M. ~ ~;~ ~~°~~ Regular meet3r~g of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P. 3:~ ~;; Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Canmissioners Brown, Dunham and Stabs (Osborn absent), Attorney C. L. Pitman, and City Clerk Frank G. ro Baker. t.~a ;;~, Also present were City employee Dick Cunningham, Jim Holley and Elsie Moore, ~` (Press). °°~ Mirn2tes of the last special and regular meetings were read and approved, ~~ ~ Carried. The item of parking at the football field was discussed at length, and the ~ problem of taking care of the cro~nds that are expected at the new stadium. Cunmi.ssioner Stabs will contact school officials and work out the problem. ~:a Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that the Auxiliary Police policy be renewed with the La Porte Insurance Agency. Carried. Motion by Dunham, second by Brown, that the Mayor be authorized to contact City Attorney Pitman and Ernest L . Broarn, Jr., and formulate a resolution to submit at a future meeting, pertaining to Mr. Duncan's request to City. Carried. Mayor Pfeiffer asked for the sewer construction bids to be opened. Three bids were opened, as follows: L. H. "Sonny" Mc Key X3,600.00 Bayshore Construction Co, 2,927.11 Sour Contractors, Inc. Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that the bids be turned over to Corrnniss- ~~1 Toner Brown to be tabulated. Carried. ~+r }}~ 11~~ Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that Ordinance No. 616, be adopted as read. The ordinance provides for the sale by the City of La Porte of a 50,000 gallon .„ elevated steel water tank, to the Automatic Sprinkler Company, Inc., of '' Dallas, Texas, on their high bid of X622.00. Carried, Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that Ordinance No. 617, be adopted as read. ~; The caption of such adopted ordinance reads as follows: °~ AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF CIVIL DE~1SE ~ ~R TPE CITY 0-F LA FORTE, Carried. • • Motion by Broen, second by Stabs, that Commissio ner Dtuzham~s resignation as Assistant Fire Marshall, be accepted. Carried. Supplanent to the Fare Zone Ordinance was discussed for over !t5 minutes. The ordinance was tabled, and no action was taken. Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that Ordinance No. lt0li-C, be adopted as read. The caption of such adopted ordinance reads as follows: AN ORDINANCE AMCNDING SECTION VI OF ORDINANCE N0. l~0~ AND REQUIRING THAT HENCEFnRTH ANY PF~RSON, COMPANY Oft CORPORATION DESIRING Ta MOVE ANY HOUSE FROM ITS EXISTING LOCATION TO A NEP~ LOCATION SHALL FIRST OBTAIN A PENT FROM THE CITY OF LA FORTE AND OONTINUIlJG THE PENALTY AS PROVIDED BY ORDINANCE N0, X04 0'F NOT LESS THAN X50.00 NOR MORE THAN X200.00 FOR ANY VIOLATION OF ORDINANCE NO. Lt0l~. Carried, Motion by Ihnih~¢n, second by Brown, that C anmissioner Dunharm be authorized to employ James Counts to prepare a plot plan for the future recreation program. Carried. The maintenance of pool for the winter, was discussed and it was decided not to emplcYy anyone to maintain the pool for the winter. The Commission decided unanimously not to send the City sprayer out of the city ]3mits. Motion by Stabs, second by Brawn, that the bills of C. L, Pitman be improved and paid in the amounts of ~b00.00 and ~1~35.00, for ordinance eodi.fication, Zoning Ordinance and. traffic ordinances. Carried.
