Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Comed.ssioners Brown, Stabs, Dunham (Osborn absent due to work), Attorney Pitman, Supt. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank G~ Baker. Also present were Carlos Smith, Roy H. D~uvik, C, H. Beekworth, W~A. Birdwell, Robert Milwee, and Mrs. Brummerhop and Jim Holley (Press). Minutes of the last meeting wire read and approved. Carried, Mayor Pfeiffer asked Mr. Carlos Smoith to report on the contract of Century Constru ct~ion Co. Motion by Brown, second by Dunham, that Estimate #10, of Century Construction Compaa~y, be paid in the amount of X9,808.31, subject to verification of City Clerk for total payments. Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Browrit to rescind the action of Commission wherein they agreed to cancel cheek #86!}4 in the amount of X20,000.00, and reinstate Estimate #8. Carried. Motion by Brown, second by Dunham, that Estimate #6 of Pittsburg-DesMoines Steel Company, in the amount of X5,952.00, be paid -final payment. Carried. Motion bT Brown, second by Stabs, that the Engineers Certificate of Completion and 0wner~a Certificate of Acceptance, be signed by City Clerk and Mayor. Carried. Motion by BroFra, second by Dunham, that Estimate #7 and final of Wyatt C. Hedrick in the amount of X109.53, be paid. Votes were 2 for and 1 against. (Dunham, Brown - For; Stabs aga3.nst). Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Estimate #11 to Wyatt C. Hedrick Co. in the amount of X3,519.38, be held for further discus s ioxi on Fire Station with Al &~ehler. Carried. • Mr. I~fillwee discussed with the Commission the item of evaluating the taxes, with the Assessor and Collector. No action was taken at this time. Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that City Commission authorize City Attorney Pitman ~o proceed to clear title sufficiently to issue Warranty Deed on Block #l~, of Bay Front Addition to the City of La Porte, Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that the City Clerk be authorized to deposit in the La Porte State Bank X50,000.©0, with option for 6 or 9 months, out of CTeneral Fund, at 3~.
