HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-03-03 Regular Meeting~ i MINUTES - REGULAR FETING LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION - MARCH 3RD, 19b1 7:00 P.M. Regular meeting of the City Gommission was called to order by Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, with the following members present : Commissioners Browny Stabs, Duxzhaua and Osborn, Supt. W,A,A rthur, Attorney Pitatan and City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Also present were James Pitchford, J. L. Ti}imicili, W. B. Rhoden, D. W. Reaves, A~ H, Viebig, I. R. Pitchford, V. C. Pizzitola, and Mrs. Brummerhop, (Press). Mr. D W. Reaves appeared before the Commission to protest the building that Mr. Pitchford is constructing for Mr. Dimicili, which building is 15 feet outside the 25' requirement from property line, which is required by the Zoning Ordinance. Mayor Pfeiffer stated that the Commission had no alternative other than to request that the building be moved back to the required distance from prop- erty line (25'). Motion by Osborn, second by Stabs, that Commissioner Osborn be authorized to send a man to the Texas Water and Sewage Works Association in College Station. Carried. I~tion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that Commissioner Dunham be authorized to send Mr.Dan Kennedy to the swimming pool school in College Station. Carried, Motion by Dunham, second by Brown, that the bid and purchase of the steel foists from Joists, Inc., be ratified. The three bids were as follows: Southwest Steel Products X450.00 Republic Steel Corporation 477.00 Joists, Inc. 385.00 Carried. Motion by Osborn, second by Brown, that Ordinance No. 626 be adopted as read. The caption of such adopted ordinance reads as follow: AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE REGULAR ANNUM:, ELECTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR A POLLING PLACE; APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIAIS; PRAVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING FEES FOR CANDIDATES; AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. Carried. • Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that the salary of Chas. Walker be brought up to ~1.52~¢ per hour for the balance of fiscal year. Carried. ~` Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that the City Clerk be authorized to transfer $2,000.00 from Sewer Construction Fund to the General Fund, to be used on the Nor th side Conununity House construction. Carried. Motion by Osborn, second by Stabs, that the fee of $125.00 to Bill Crawford, for diving in sewer manhole, be ratified. Carried.
