P. Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Commissioners Osburn, Brown, and Stabs (Dunham absent due to work), Attorney Pitman, Supt. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Also present were Asst t, Supt, Cunningham, City Inspector I.R. King, Mr. Carlos Smith, Joe Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Bruannerhop. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, Carried. Mr. Johnson appeared before the Commission to request that Happy Harbor be exempted from taxes for the years 195lt through 1960 on Lots 1 to 3, Bayfront Block, Bayshore Park, and this property placed on tax exempt rolls for future years, Attorney Pitman was requested to give the Commission a decision within a few days. , Motion by Osborn, second by Stabs, that Eng. Est. #7 on City Hall and Fire Station, in the amount of X222.62, and Architectural Invoice # 1 in the amount of X300.00, and Invoice # 2 in the amount of X138.28, be paid, Carried. Mr. Smith and the Commission discussed the remodeling of the sewer plant, and Mr. Smith was authorized to proceed to get estimates and pleas together so thAt the Commission can request Federal funds. Motion by Brown, second by Osborn, that the next regular meeting be held on April 20, instead of 21st. Carried, Motion by Brown, second by Stabs, that the City Clerk be authorized to close escrow account of Karpark Meter Compar~r, and apply to the account of Duncan Parking Meter Compact. Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that Commissioner Dunham be authorized to prepare and take bids on new tractor and mower. Carried. Motion by Osborn, second by Brown, tyat Mrs. Golden be refunded $23.00 on sewer line that City damaged. Carried. • • - Motion by Osborn, second by Stabs, that the pur chase and bill of Mabry Foundry in the amount of X665,25, be ratified. Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Osborn, that the Commission of Mr. K3.ng as Night Watchman, be ratified. Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Broom, that the City pay their portion of Plaque, in the amount of X28.33. Carried. Motion by Osborn, second by Brown, that the 2~ gross receipts check of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, in the amount of $1,980.69, be accepted. Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Osborn, that the City renew the hospital insurance carried with Travelers Insurance Company, on the seine percentage basis as now carried. Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that the City Attorney be allowed $100.00 for trip to Austin to attend law school at University of Texas Corporation Court Institute. Carried.
