~ ~ MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION - APRIL 20TH, 1961 ?:00 PeM. Regular meeting of the City Conmcission was called to order by Mayor H, P. Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Commissioners Brown, Osborn, Dunham and Stabs, Supt. Arthur, Attorney Pitman and City Clerk Baker. Also present were Carlos Smith, Mrs. Elizabeth Hector, J.E.Cook, M'r. and Mrs. R.W. Me Clellan, and Mrs. Brummerhop and Jim Holley (Press), and Mr. Brummerhop. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Carried. Mr. Cook appeared before the Commission and. requested that the Alley in Block 1158 be closed. A letter from Mr. W, H. Baugh was read to the Commission, stating that he had no objection to closing the Alley. Mr. Baugh and associates own Lots 31 & 32 in Block 1158. Mayor Pfeiffer stated that the City Attorney would give Mr. Cook in writing the conditions required to close Alley in Block 1158. Mr. Smith presented the plans and recomunendations from his firm to convert the sewerage treatment plant to a working condition that w©uld accommodate 10,000 people. . Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that the Mayor and Secretary be authorized to sign the letter of request to the State, also a letter to Maroney Beissner & Company, Inc. Carried. Motion by Broym, second by Stabs, that the letter from Wyatt C. Hedrick, per- taining to the Century Construction Company fob in La Porte, be placed on file. The letter requests that the City of La Porte by Commission action, recognize that the City has necessary plans and specifRications to complete the trork deleted from the Street Paving and Storm Sewer project, and that at such time as the construction of these deleted portions are authorized by the City of La Porte, the firm of Wyatt C.Hedrick will be due payment for the plans and specifications under the terms of said contract with the City of La Porte. Carried. Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that the City Attorney be authorized to prepare ordinance pertaining to carnivals, circuses, permits, charges far same, location, etc. Carried. • • ,,~'; d R~ ~'' ~ Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that Ordinance No. 363A, be adopted as ` / read. The caption of such adopted ordinance reads as follows: , ~~; ,~ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 363; CREATING A SPECIAL CLASS "' OF LICENSED MASTER ELECTRICIANS; DEFINING SAID SPECIAL CLASS OF MASTER ELECTRICIANS AS "INACTIVE"; AND PROVIDING AN ANNUAL FEE ~,,~ FOR INACTIVE LICENSED MASTER ELECTRICIANS. e:" "a ~: Carried. ~a Motion by Brown, second by Osborn, that the bi7.l. of X18.85, from the Comm- unity Church, be paidfor sidewalks. ~ C) Carried. ~ Motion by Brown, second by Dunham, that Commissioner Brown be authorized to take bids for asphalt topping on streets, on 19th of May, 1961. Carried. Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that Commissioner Osborn be authorized to purchase material to lay sewer line to North side recreation. Carried. Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that Commissioner Dunham be authorized to employ D~ Kennedy as pool manager for the season starting May 15th, 3961, w3.th salary the same as last year. Carried. Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that the Dosier rental cost to Mc Call Gardner, in the amount of $155.00 (~13C.00 Rental, X25.00 transportation), be ratified. Carried.
