MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION - MAY 5TH, 1961
7:00 P. M.
Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P.
Pfeiffer, t~.th the following members present: Commissioners Brown, Osburn,
Stabs and Dunham, Attorney Pitman, Supt. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank G.Baker.
Also present were John Kiibler, Jr., Caxlos Smith, Joel Cook, Mr. Brwnmerhop,
Calvin Compton, and Jim Holley and Mrs. Brummerhop (Press).
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Carried,
Mayor Pfeiffer read a letter from Kiibler and Kiibler asking that the City
close South H Street, lying between Blocks 860 and 869, and Blocks 859 and
870. After discussion, motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Attorney Pitman
be authorized to draw an ordinance to close portions of H Street.

Mr. Cook appeared before the Commission to discuss the closing of the Alley in
Block #1158. The Comm~.ssion asked Mr.Cook to take the letter frt~a Mr. W~ H,
Baugh and secure additional signatures on same.
Commissioners Dunham and Osburn discussed the health ordinance, and both were
authorised to work with Attorney Pitanan to reword the health ordinance for the
next meeting.
Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Wilburn Reeves be employed as a tem-
porary Patrolman, at a salary of X300.00 per month.
Carried.
Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that Commissioner Stabs be authorized to
spend X148.00 to cover floor in Fire Station.
Carried.
Motion by Brown, second by Dunham, that payment of X1,116.82 to L, H. Mc Key,
for paving on A Street, be ratified.
Carried.
Motion by Dunham, second by Osburn, that the City advertise for bids on used
dozier, on June 2~ 1961.
Carried.
The item of refund on the I. Leon Smith sewer Line was discussed. Commissioner
Osburn will contact Mr. Smith and report back to the Commission.

Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that Commissioner Osborn be authorized to
extend sewer line on 4th Street, providing Mr. George Norris pays his portion
of line.
Carried.
Mr. Compton appeared before the Commission to discuss the cutting of grass by
the City on property that he has been cut ting for the owners for pay. After
quite some discus lion, the Commission determined that they would continue to
keep as much of the vacant property cut as possible.
Motion by Osborn, second by Brown, that the City Clerk be authorized to transfer
X850.00 to the General fund from the Sewer Construction Fund, to be used by the
Recreation Department on Nor th side.
Carried.
Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that the meeting adjourn.
