Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Commissioners Brown, Dunham, Stabs and Osborn, Attorney Pitman, Supt. Arthur, Asst, Supt. Cunningham, and City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Also present were J. 0. Rollins, Carlos Smith, Jim Ho.uey and Elsie Moore, (Press), and Mr. Holly~s daughter, Linda Holley. Mirrutes of the last regular and special meeting were read and at~proved. Carried. Motion by Osborn, second by Brown, that City Clerk be authorized to pur chase one X1,000.00 bond held by Maroney Bessner & Company, Inc., due in 1975. Carried, Motion by Osburn~ second by Brown, that L. E. "Sonny" Mc Key be paid for sewer line around block 1158, in the amount of $2,398.00. Carried. Attorney Pitman read a portion of the answer of Pasadena and La Porte to the suit filed by the City of Houston pertaining to the deannexation. Attorney Pitman was authorized to draw a contract pertaining to Airport Highway. Motion by Osborn, second by Stabs, that City forgive taxes for the years 1954 through 1950, inclu live, on Lots 1, 2, 3, Block Bay Front, Bayshore Park. Carried. Motion by Brown, second by Stabs, that the Certificate of Acceptance and Certificate of Completion on street paving and storm sewers, be signed by the City Clerk and Mayor. Acceptance conditioned on payment to L. F. (Sonny) McKey for work performed for Century Construction Company. Carried, A letter report of the meeting of the Board of Adjustment, held April 19, 1961, axed the May 17th meeting, was presented to the Commission, signed by Mr. RSA, Mc Glendon, Chairman of the Board of Adjustment and by Mrs. Elsie Moore. Report ~*as placed in City files. Motion by Osborn, second by Brown, that Mr. Dicus be notified by registered mail that he will be given 45 days to correct the carport which is in violation of the Zoning Ordinance. Attorney Pitman will draw notice. Carried. C~ Commissioner Brown dis cussed the matter of curb and gutters in sections of the City where-the property o~n ers are willing to pay their portion. Motion by Browny second by Osborn, to recommend that if the property oti~raers are willing to pay their part now that the City proceed with work and place shell between curb and street. Carried. Mayor Pfeiffer read the 1961-1962 budget. Motion by Dunham, second by Brown, that Ordinance No. 630, be adopted as read. The caption of such adopted ordinance reads as follows: AN ORDINANCE MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR SUPPORT OF THE GOV ERN- MENT OF ifs CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE FISCAL, YEAR BE- GINNII~ JULY 1, 1961, AND ENDII~ JULIE 30, 1962.
