MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
LA PORTS CITY COP~'~LISSIORT -AUGUST 4TIi, 1961

Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order b3' Mayor H. P.
Pfeiffer, ~Tith the following members present: Commissioners Dunham, Stabs
and Osborn, (Brown absent due to ~4•ork), Supt. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank
G. Baker.
Also present were Mr. Childs ~d.th Power Equipment Co., Mr. Pendergrass and
Mrs. Brummerhop (Press), and Tx. Brummerhop.
Minutes of the last meeting were read a_nd approved.
Carried.
A letter from Houston Power Equipment Company was handed to the Mayor and each
Commissioner, outlining their feeling pertaining to the Mott Mop^•er attachment.
It teas decided to ask a representative of the Mott Mower Company to come and
talk to the Commission and at that time they will decide on mower.
Motion by Osborn, second by Stabs, that HouGto n Lighting & P ower Company be
autho rued to install 1.0 street lights as designated.
Carried.
Motion by Dunham, second by Osborn, that Secretary be authorized to check into
the cost of installing a payment box in wall of City Hall.
Carried.
Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that Tax Collector be authorized to cancel
delinquent taxes as listed, except Certificate X170, or arty other that may have
been put on cancellation list,
Carried.
Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Officer Williams be put on full time
as Patrolman, effective August 1, 1961.
Carried.
Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Ordinance No. 459-A, be adopted as read.
The caption of such adopted ordinance reads as follows:

Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that Commissioner Osborn be authorized to
send one man to schooY.
Carried,
Potion by Osborn, second by Dunham, tzat Commissioner Osborn be au thorized to
pur chase 20 squares of galvanized iron for roof, approximately X240.00, plus
some labor cost for carpenter.
Carried.
It was suggested that the Commission talk to the Zoning Eoard pertaining to
carports, by next Wednesday.
Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that the meetir~ adjourn.
Carried.
