Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H, P. Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Commissioners Brown, Dunham, Stabs, (Osborn working), Supt. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank G. Baker. Also present was Carlos Smith. Minutes of the last regular and spe cial meetings were read and approved. Carried, Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that the City Commission adopt Resolution accepting Federal Grant on Disposal plant, in the amount of X10,710.00. RESOLUTION, WI-~ REAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte has authorized a program of construction of sewage works at an estimated cost of X35,700.00 and the United States Government, acting through the Public Health Service, has offered a Federal Grant in the amount of $"10,710.00 as shown in Part A of Budget Bur eau Form No. 68-R614, submitted to the City of La Porte by the Department of Health, Education and 4delfare under a designation as Project No. Tr1PC-Tex-i18, entitled Offer and Acceptance of Federal Grant for sewage Treatment tidorks under 33 U. S. C. 466 et seq.,now under consideration by this body. NOh1, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by theCity Commission of the City of L a Porte, Texas, that said offer as submitted, together Frith the terms and conditions thereof, is hereby accepted and approved; and the Mayor of the City of La Porte is hereby authorized and directed to sign said offer and acceptance and any other necessary documents required to complete the project on behalf of said City of La Porte, Texas. BE IT FUR THER RESOLVED that the City of La Porte, Texas has fee simple title in the site of tze project, including the necessary easements and rights-of-way, as to assure undistur bed use and possession for the pur- poses of construction, operation and maintenance of the works for the esti- mated life of the project and that in the event such titl e, estate, or interest in such site, easements or rights-of-way in the future be contested, the City of La Porte will defend and maintain its title in such site and hold the United States Government blameless in such action. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at the regular meeting of the City Commission of the City of La Porte on the 19th day of October, 1961. Carried. Motion by Dunham, second by Stabs, that Guree Hawkins be paid additional 8 days sick leave, Carried. I • • Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that the pur chase of police car from Clunn- ric Dougal, be ratified, wi th trade-in optional with City. Carried. Motion by Stabn, second by D~ham, that the pur chase of desk and chair for Police Department, be ratified, Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Supt.;~thur be authorized to employ 1 man temporarily, as a replacement. Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that the City Clerk be auth orized to spend X300.00 for Christmas decorations. Carried. Motion by Brown, second by Stabs, that the minutes of August 31, 1961, be amended to include V.M. Calhoun on Zoning Board. Carried. Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that City Clerk be authorized to purchase 1 Underwood D24 printing calculator, #~50-103-4, at a cost of X540.00. Carried.
