M. c: j -~; Special meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P. ~~ Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Commissioners Stabs, Dunham ~:~ and Brown, City Attorney C. L~ Pitman and City Clerk Clovis D, P~1ann. ~~~ t~~ Minutes of the previous meeting of May 26, 19b2, were read and approved. Commissioner Dunham made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the remaining engineering fee of $310.64, now due and payable, be paid to Mr, Jim Counts, for engineering services on the Nor thside P~ecreation building, and that project be closed out. Motion Carried. A memorandum from Frank L. Hoot, Jr., regarding group insurance and re- questing that he be notified whenever the City decides to consider group insurance programs, was read and filed for future reference. Commissioner Dunham made a verbal repox•t to the Commission that expenses on the Little League baseball field amounted to X2,115.48. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Dunham, that payment of statement rendered by Mr. Richard Osborne for tax services in the amount of X788.75, be authorized, ,~ Motion Carried, ~"~ Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Dunham, to i~ €€ authorize the pur chase of two water coolers for the Fire Department. ~~ €~x Motion Carried. :~ Commissioner Brown made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the final estimate of West Construction Company in the amount of $5,807.52, be ~0 paid and that the owners certificate of acceptance be signed (Asphalt Street Surfacing Project). '~` Motion Carried. ~a v^ommissioncr Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the ~ contract on mowing the Hou-Port Airport with Mr. W~ Richnow, be approved, ~' and that the contract in full be entered in the minutes. ~ THE STATE OF TEXAS ~ Motion Carried,' COUNTY OF HARRIS ~ This agreement between the CITY OF LA PORTS, as a party of the first part, and ~nT. RICHNC1fn7, party of the second part. Wl'rNESSETH L~ I. Party of the second part hereby agrees t o mow the Hou-Port Airport located on Spencer Highway, three (3) times before November 15, 1962, and shall have for his services nine (9) of each ten (10) bales of Hay, baled from these moorings. II. Party of the second part hereby promises and agrees that he shall hold the City harmless from lia bility for any accid ent or any damages that may arise as a result of his operation in the mowing and shall replace, at his expense, any broken the or electrical conduits or runway lights that may be damaged as a result of his operation. III. Party of the second part agrees to enter the premises only at the Armory Entrance. N. Party of the first part agrees to accept delivery of each tenth bale of hay harvested as payment in full for permission to make hay from the premises, Party of the second part agrees to deliver each tenth bale belong- ing to the party of the first part at the end of each days operation to Sharp Grain Company for the benefit of the City, Said hay to weigh not less than 60 pounds per bale. It is agreed by both parties that the party of the second part is an independent contractor and that the City shall not be responsible for the wages or injuries of the party of the first part or any of his employees or servants.
