Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Com- mission held on June 8, 1962 were read and approved. ~ -;e 2. Bids were received and opened on Paving of Parking Area behind City Hall from the following: Black Top Paving Co., Inc. $ 5,395.80 Brown and Root, Inc. 4,027.00 Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Corrcni.ssioner Brown, that all bids be rejected. Motion was made by Mayor Pfeiffer, seconded by CA~JC ~S~LING OF Commissioner Brown, that the Mayor's membership in the Harris M~4BER`3HIP TO County Mayor's and Councilmen's Association be cancelled. MAYOR & COUNCIL. Motion carried. ASSN. # # # 4. A letter from Mr. Burch Dowr~man, Houston, Texas PROPOSED BUS Attorney for a proposed Bus Line to be known as the Lonhorn LINE FOR LA PORTS Rocket Motor Coaches, was read. AREA • The proposed bus line would operate passenger buses between the terminal points of Houston and the Space Center at or near Clear Lake, and would provide service to the inhabitants of La Porte. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded. by Commissioner Brown, that Mr. Dos,~vnan be notified that the operation of a bus line from Houston to South Houston to La Porte over the Spencer Highway would serve a very worthwhile purpose fo~~ the citizenry of La Porte. Motion carried. ;f ~ ~ 5. Motion was made by Commissioner Osburn, seconded ORDINANCE N0. b48 by Commissioner Brown, that Ordinance No. 6~8 be passed. Motion carried. {Ordinance filed in Ordinance Book) AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE ALLEY LYING WITHIN BLOCK 1111, IN THE TOT~1 OF LA FORTE. ~ ~ ;~ 6. Houston Lighting and Power Company presented a H0. LTG. & POWER notice of rate increase. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, CO. - RATE INCN:EASE seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the City Attorney pre- pare an ordinance setting forth the new rates; to be presented at a future meeting. Motion carried. ~ ~ ~ 7. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that Carlos Smith, representing Wyatt C.
