Manny City Clerk. ~ # ~ PRESIDING: Mayor Harold Pfeiffer. ~ ~ ~ 1. Bids on Lift Station No. 2 were opened. Three bids BIDS ON LIFT were submitted as follows: STATION N0. 2 Navajo Construction Co. $ l~,7~0.00 J. M. Ho113.s Construction Co. ?,95..00 Couch Construction Co, l~,950.00 Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the contract be awarded to Navajo Construction Company. Motion carried. ~ ~ # 2. Minutes of the previous meetings, Regular Meeting of July 6, 1962 and the Special Meeting of July 16, 1962, were read and approved. ~ ~ 3~ 3. Motion was made by Commissioner Osburn, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the City Engineer be authorized to hire three laborers for a period of two months. Motion carried. ~ ~ # AUTHORIZATION OF 3 ADDITIONAL LABORERS. 10. !t. Commissioner Dunham made a motion, seconded by 1962-63 BUDGET Commissioner Brown that the Budget for 1962-63 be approved. APPROVED Motion carried. ~ ~ -t~ 5. Motion made by Commissioner Dunham, seconded RESOLUTION NU. by Commissioner Brown that Resolution No. 5-62, finally 5 - 62 approving the 1962-63 Budget is submitted by the Mayor, be passed. Motion carried. (Resolution No. 5-62 filed in Resolution Book.) ~ ~ ~ 6. Motion was made by Commissioner Osborn and ORDINANCE N0. 654 seconded by Commissioner Brown, that Ordinance No. 65~., making appropriation for the support of the Government of the City of La Porte, Texas, for the Fiscal Year beginning July, 1962, and ending June 30, 1963, be passed. Motion carried. (Ordinance filed in Ordinance Bo®k. ) AN ORDINANCE MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR SUPPORT OF THE ~~OVERN- r4ENT OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BE- GINNING JULY 1, 1962, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1963• ~ ~ ~ i ~. ~< z u; ~~~ { ~~ l~ G.. c?~ 7. Cemmia3iener Dunham made a motion, seconded by AUTHORIZATION OF Commissioner Osborn, that the City Clerk be authorized to have BUDGET PRINTING the budget printed. Motion carried. ~ # ~ 8. The Commission considered a petition submitted by approximately twenty-seven residents of the El Jardin Addition, requesting de-annexation and removal of first reading of annexation of certain areas pertaining to the El Jardin Addition. After due consideration, Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Dunham, that the request be denied and that the Petitioners, and also the Civic Club of that area, be advised that there are no immediate plans for the de-annexation of any territory in that area. Motion carried. # ~ # EL JARDIN DE-ANNEX- ATION PETITION 9. Motion was made by Commissioner Osborn, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that payment of one thousand two hundred thirty dol3.ars ($ 1,230.00) in fees to Moroney, Beissner and Co., Inc. in connection with services rendered on issuance of forty- one thousand dmllars ($ lt1,000.00) City of La Porte, Texas, Sewer System Time Warrants (being 3~ of $ Lt1,000.00) be approved. Motion carried. AUTHORIZATION OF FEES TO MORONEY, BEISSNER & CO. RE: Sewer System Time Warrants # a~ ~ • • 11. 10. Motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by C®mmissioner Brawn, that Mr. C. L. Pitman, City Attorney, be authorized to employ De Lange, Hudspeth and Pitman, Attorneys to aid. in preparati®n and presentation of defense of annexation suit, at the rate of one hundred fifty dollars ($ 150.00) per day, or arXy part thereof; court room time, and twelve dollars and fifty cents ($ 12.50) per hour for all other time. Motion carried. # ~ ~ There being no further business at hand, the meeting was adjourned.
