1. Minutes of the Special Meetings of September
13, 20, 21 and 21tth were read and approved.

2. Commissioner Osburn introduced Ordinance No. 658 ORDINANCE N0. 658
and moved ita adoption, to be effective on the 11th day after
the first of two publications of the caption in the official
newspaper of the City of La Porte. Commissioner Brown seconded
the motion, which was carried by unanimous vote. Caption of
Ordinance No. 6~8 as follows:
AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE RATES, FEES AND CHARGES FOR WATER
AND WATER SERVICE BY THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, TO CONSUMERS
INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CORPORATE LIlKITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE,
TEXAS; PRESCRIBING THE TIME FOR ~AYMENT THEREFOR; PROVIDING
FOR TEN PERCENT (10~) DISCOUNT FOR PROMPT PAYMENT OF BILLS AND
PRESCRIBING OTHER MATTERS RELATED THERETO, AND PROVIDING A
PENALTY OF NOT LESS THAN $ 10.00 NOR MORE THAN $ 200.00 FOR
VIOLATION OF THE TERMS AND PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE.

3. Motion was made by Commissioner Brown, and sec-
onded by Commissioner Osburn, that the employment of I. R. King,
as City Inspect®r be terminated effective at the close of business
October 1, 1962 and that Dan W. Kennedy be employed as City
Inspector, with additional duties in the Tax Department and
Water Department, effective October 15, 19b2, at four hundred
fifty dollars ($ 1~50.~) per month. Motion carried.

L~. Motion was made by Commissioner Osburn, seconded
by Commissioner Brown, that the City Clerk be authorized to
employ an additional clerk for his office, effective November 1,
1962. Starting pay to be two hundred fifty dollars ($ 250.00)
per month for a probationary period. of six (6) months, anal if
employment satisfactory, the pay to be raised to two hundred
seventy-five dollars ($ 275.00) per month. Motion carried.

5. Commissioner Brown made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Osburn, that City Clerk Clovis D. Mann be author-
ized to attend the Texas Municipal LeaCue Conference, to he
held in Ft. Worth, Texas, from October 7th through October 9th,
and that he be authorized to represent the Mayor at the Legis-
lative Committee Meetings. Motion carried.

7. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, second,eal by RESOLUTION NO.
Commissioner Brown, that Resolution No.9 -62, authorizing the 9 -62
City to borrow twenty thousand dollars ($ 20,000.00) on a "Tax
Anticipation Note" to meet current expenses. Motion carried.
8. Commissioner Brown made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Osburn, that the City Engineer be authorized to
spend not more than one hundred fifty dollars ($ 150.00) on
street signs, markers, and traffic signs. Motion carried.
9. - Commissioner Bro-~rn made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Osburn, that Ordinance No. 659, be passed.
