Minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 15th, 1962 were read and approved. ~ ~ ~ 36. 2. Three bids received on Police Cars, as adver- BIDS OPENED ON tised, were received, opened, and tabulated as follows: 1963 POLICE CAR JAY r!fARKS CHEVROLET, "Drive-out" price on 1963 Biscayne 4-door sedan, $ 2,228.31, less $ 450.00 trade-in allowance; plus Title and Inspection, $ 1.75; Total $ 1,780.06, plus Accessories and Options. CLUNN-MOTOR COMPANY, 1963 Plymouth Police "Pursuit Special 8", !~-door Sedan, $ 2,659.OU, less Trade-in $ 500.00, Total $ 2,159.00. JOE CAMP MOTORS, 1963 Ford 300 Fordor Sedan with Police Interceptor package, $ 2,I~21.00; Trade-in allowance $ 600.00; Balance $ 1,821.00. Motion made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner Osburn, that the bids be tabled for study and recommendations. Motion carried. ~ # ~ • • 37. 3. Motion made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by DIScussion on Commissioner Brown, that the telephone rate ordinance be amend- amending Telephone ed to retain the present rates until the new "Metropolitan Rate Ordinance Service Plan" goes into affect, and to also eliminate the !t- party line provision of the ordinance. City Attorney Pitman will prepare amendment. Motion carried. # # ~ !~. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded by Authorization to Commissioner Stabs, that the City be authorized to spend not purchase Christmas more than three hundred dollars ($ 300.00) on Christmas Dec- Decorations orations. Motion made by Commissioner Osburn, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that a policy on street paving, curb and gutter, be established as follows: (Policy not to apply to Sub-Division.) On existing paved streets, the City will extend paving to curb and gutter; the property owner to bear the expense of curb and gutter, which must be built to City's specifications. New streets: City will install curb and gutter; Property owners will bear expense of street paving which must be constructed according to City's Specifications. Motion carried. ,~- # ~ 6. Motion was made by Commissioner Osborn, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the City Engineer be authorized to purchase twenty-four (2!G) 5/8" water meters anc~ one 2".meter at an approximate cost of eight hundred dollars ($ 800.00); three thousand (3,000) feet of 2" pipe and one thousand (1,000) feet of 1" pipe, at an approximate cost of two thousand six hundred twenty-eight dollars andtwenty cents ($ 2,628.20). Motion carried. ~ ~ ~ New Policy on Construction of Curb & Gutter Authorization to purchase additional Water Meters & Pipe 7. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by Lawler Water Line Commissioner atabs, that the City be authorized to expend not more than two thousand five hundred dollars ($ 2,500.00), as its part on the "Lawler Water Line", provided that satisfactory arrangements can be made as to use of the water. Motion carried. # # ~- 8. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by Authorization to Commissioner Stabs, that the City be authorized to advertise for advertise for Bids bids on two new pick-up trucks, with a trade-in of a 1952 Dodge on Pick-up trucks pick-up. Motion carried. ~ ~ # • 9. Commissioner Brown made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Osburn, that two str-yet lights (incandescent), be authorized for "I{" Street and two street lights (incandescent) be authorized for Carroll Street. Motion carried. # ~ ~ 10. Motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that Ordinance No. 660, caption as follows, be passed. Motion carried. AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE APPROVAL OF THE AGREEMENT DATED NOVEMBER 5, 1962 BETWEEN THE STATE OF TEXAS AND THE CITY OF LA PORTS, FOR THE INSTALLATION, CONSTRUCTION, EXISTENCE, USE, OPER- ATION, AND MAINTE3VANCE OF HIGHWAY SIGNAL PROJECT AT THE LOCATION SHOWN ON ExHIBIT 1, ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, IN THE CITY OF LA PORTS; PROVIDING FOR THE EXECUTION OF SAID AGREEi~IIIJT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Commissioner Brown made Commissioner Stabs, that City Attorne begin negotiation for purchase of five Airport, and to move the improvements Motion carried. a motion, seconded by y Pitman be authorized to (5) acres adjoining to adjoining property. ~ # # 12. Commissioner Stabs, made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Brown that the existing contract with W. Richnow for mowing of hay at the airport be rescinded, due to failure of Mr. Richnow in complying with the contract. Motion carried. # ~ ~ 13. Motion was made by Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that City Attorney Pitman be authorized to proceed with the necessary work to advertise Block Four (It), ~y Front Addition, La Porte, for sale with the provision that no bid for less that eight thousand five hundred ($ 8,500.00) be accepted. Date for opening of bids set for December 17th, 1962. Motion carried. # ~ # 11~. Commissioner Dunham made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the City advertise for bids toward purchase of a new garbage truck. Bids to be opened December 3rd, 1962. Motion carried. # ~ ~ 38. AUTHORIZATION FOR 2 STREET LI ~HTS AT "K" AND CARROLL ORDINANCE N0. 660 PURCHASE OF ACREAGE ADJOINING AIRPORT RICHNOW CONTRACT RESCINDED AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE BLOCK !~, BAYFRONT FOR SALE AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR GARBAGE TRUCK There being no further business at hand, the meeting was ad3ourned. ~~ .
