MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
of the
LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION OF LA PORTE, TEXAS
November 19, 1962 - 7:00 P.M.
MEMBERS OF COMMISSION PRESENT: Harold P.
Pfeiffer, Mayor; Odell Brown, treet Commissioner;
W. A. Stabs, Jr., Police and Fire Commissioner;
Tom Osburn, Water and Sewer Commissioner.
MEMBERS OF COMMISSION ABSENT: Dennis Dunham,
Health & Recreation Commissioner. Due to other
commitments.)
OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Charles L.
Pitman, City Attorney; Clovis D. Mann, City Clerk;
Carlos Smith, City Engineer.
PRESIDING: H. P. Pfeiffer, Mayor.
Invocation was given by 0. D. Dial, Minister
of Church of Christ, La Porte.
1. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 5,
1962 were read and approved.
2. Three bids received on Monolithic Concrete
Curbs and Gutter, as advertised, were opened. Bids
were tabulated as follows:
BROWN & ROOT, INC. $ 6,345.00
L. VERNON MILLER & SON 7,140.00
STOECKLE CONSTRUCTION CO. 8,925.00
Motion made by Commissioner Brown, seconded
by Commissioner Stabs, that since all bids were consider-
ably above the estimate made by the City Engineer, that
all bids be rejected. Motion carried.

3. Request from Roy T. Wilson to use an REQtTEST FOR

8th Street , was considered. PERMIT (R.T.

Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Osburn, that the request be denied. Motion
carried.
4. Motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, AUTHORIZATION
and seconded by Commissioner Osburn, that the City Clerk TO HAY R. L.
be authorized to issue a check for five hundred dollars, SONFIELD
($ 500.00) to Robert L. Sonfield, Attorney, for attorney $ 500.00
fees due him. Motion carried.
5. Motion was made by Commissioner Brown, AUTHORIZATION
seconded by Commissioner Osburn to take bids on the pur- TO ADVERTISE
chase of a maintainer; to be received and opened on FOR BIDS ON

7. Commissioner Stabs made a report on the POLICE CAR BID
study made of bids previously submitted and tabled LET TO JOE
on Police Cars. A study of the bids revealed that Joe CAA'L~ MOTORS
Camp Motors Company submitted the lowest bids providing
for City's specifications.
Motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, and
seconded by Commissioner Osburn, that the acceptance
of the bid of Joe Camp Motors be confirmed. Motion
carried.
There being no further business at hand,
the meeting was adjourned.
