Pfeiffer, Mayor; Odell L. Brown, Street Commissioner; Tom Osburn, Wafer & Sewer Commissioner; Dennis Dunham, Health and Recreation Corrmisstoner; W. A. Stabs, Jr., Police and Ftre Commissioner. MEMBERS OF COMMISSION ABSENT: None. * * « OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Charles L. Pitman, City Attorney; Clovis D. Mann, City Clerk; Carlos Smith, City Engineer. PRESIDING: Harold P. Pfeiffer, Mayor. 1. Motion was made by Commissioner Osburn, seconded ORDINANCE NO. 668 by Commissioner Stabs, that Ordinance No. 668, calling regular "CALLING OF REGUL.^.. annual election of the City of La Porte, be passed. Motion ELECTIOP%" carried. Captton as follows: AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE' REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR A POLLING PLACE; APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING FEES FOR CANDIDATES; AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. (Ordinance No. 668 filed in Ordinance Book.) r~ 2. Commissioner Dunham made a motion, seconded by AGREEMENT WITH Commissioner Osburn, that an agreement be entered into with BERNARD JOHNSON Bernard Johnson Engineers, Inc., whereby they could begin ENGR.S. TO BEGIN immediate work on the portion of the Comprehensive Master MASTER PLAN Plan as pertatns to Land Use Study and Zoning. Motion carried. 3. Motion was made by Commiss{over Osburn, sec- onded by Commissioner Brown, that a Resolution be passed selecting Bernard Johnson, Engineers, Inc. as planning consultants to prepare City~s Master Plan. Motion carried. PREPARATION OF RESOLUTION APPOINT BERNARD JCHNSON, CO~'SULT I NG EPIGRS. 66. RESOLUTION NO. 16-63 WHEREAS the City of La Porte, Harris County, Texas, recognizes the need to insure its proper and orderly growth and to prevent further development of undestrable physical condttions, and WHEREAS city planning is recognized to be of primary importance for the further growth and development of the City of La Porte, and WHEREAS the City of La Porte has selected Bernard Johnson Engineers, Inc., as planning consultants to prepare the city plan, and WHEREAS the Texas State Department of Health, acting as the State Planning Agency, can arrange for the needed planning and can arrange for the financial assistance from Federal sources NOW THEREFORE BE lT RESOLVED that the City Counctl of La Porte, Texas, requests the Texas State Department of Health fo arrange for the following planning services: Comprehansive Planning of the Urban Area as a gutde to the intelligent and feasible physical development of the City and to arrange for financial assistance in the sum of ~ 8,440.00 BE /T FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of La Porte will make available upon the request of the Texas State Department of Health the sum of $ 4,810.00 to atd in defraying cost of the requested stated planning service. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded by APPROVAL OF SIGNAL= Commissioner Stabs, to direct the City Attorney to prepare AT MAIN & TENTH and Ordinance granting approval to the State Highway Department for signaltzation of 10th Street and Main. Motion carried. 5. Motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded EMPLOYMENT OF by Commissioner Brown, to authorize City Tax Assessor-Collector RICHARD OSBORNE TO Mann to employ Richard Osburn to asstst with getting property ASSIST WITH TAX annexed to the City of La Porte, on the Tax Roll.
