Pfeiffer, Mayor; Odell L. Brown, Street Commissioner; Tom Osburn, Water and Sewer Commissioner; W. A. Stabs, Jr., Police and Fire Commissioner; Dennis Dunham, Health and Recreation Commissioner. Pfeiffer, Mayor. invocation was given by Reverend J. B. Linney, Minister of the Assembly of God Church, La Porte, Texas. 9. Minutes of the regular meeting of March 95, 9963, were read and approved with Section 2 being amended to show "L" Street instead of "M" Street. Minutes were approved as amended. 2. The Commission considered a request from Mr. Jack Lawler for an entrance off Highway 946 to Oak Park. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Osburn that the State Highway Department be requested to provide two (2) openings 'through the esplan- ade, one opening at the Oak Park Trailer Park and one entrance at "L" Street intersection. The opening to be temporary until the frontage road is constructed to pro- vide •two way traffic. Motion carried. 3. Motion was made by Commissioner Osburn, seconded by Commissioner Brown, that the sale .of a used well pump for sixty-five dollars (~ 65.00) be approved. Motion carried. 73. COMMISSION REQUESTS STATE HIGHWAY DEPT. TO MAKE 2 OPENING OFF 946. RE: OAK PARK COURT "L" STREET AUTHORIZATION TO SELL USED WELL PUMP. J 74. 4. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by ACCEPTANCE OF GROSS -'~, Commissioner Osbrun, that the Gross Receipts Tax of two thousand RECEIPTS TAX FROM five hundred fifty-nine dollars and twenty-four cents (~ 2,559.24) S. The commission decided to refer the matter to the Chamber of Commerce for study and recommendations, and that the La Porte Hardware Company be informed of this action by Ietter. /t was also decided that Chief of Poltce Freeman make a study of the parking situation and report back at the next meeting. 7. FROM PAYING GARBAGE CHARGE _ It was the decision of the Commission that since 1 the Ordinance placed a Garbage Charge on all businesses and firms, ~~ ~ and since the garbage pick-up service was made available to all firms, that no exception could be made to the Ordinance. The Wilson Appliance Service is to be notified of this action by letter. 75. 99. Information was received to the effect that the ALLEY '/N 400 BLK. alley in the 400 Block om Kansas was being obstructed. The City ON KANSAS ST. OB- Engineer was informed that the alley must be cleared. STRUCTED 92. Commissioner Dunham made a motion, seconded by CORP. COURT NIGHT Commissioner Stabs, that meeting of the Corporatton Court be CHANGED DUE TO changed from the night of April 23rd to April 24th, for this ELECTION one week due to Election Day, being on the 23rd. Motion carried. 93. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by PAY RAISE APPROVED Commissioner Dunham that Rudeii Philltps, part time Patrol- FOR R. PHILLIPS, N.S. man for the North Side be raised to eighty dollars ($ 80.00) PATROLMAN per month, effective April 9, 9963. Motion carried. * * ~ 94. Commissioner Dunham made a motion, seconded by ADVERTISE BLK. 4, B.F. Commissioner Stabs, that the City advertise Block 4, Lots 9 FOR SALE to 28 inclusive, Bay Front Addition, for sale to highest responsible bidder bidding more than eight thousand five hun- dred dollars, (~ 8,500.00); bids to be opened at 7:30 p. m. on the 7th day of June, 9963; Ail bids to be accompanied by a Cashier's Check in an amount of not less than ten (90) per cent of the total amount bid; City to reserve the right and power to reject any and ail bids. Motion carried. 95. Commissioner Dunham moved that authorization APPROVAL TO REPLACE be granted to replace four (4) light poles on the Baseball 4 LIGHT POLES AT BASE ground on Nigh School property. Commissioner Stabs seconded BALL FIELD the motion, and motion carried. There being no further business at hand, the meeting was adjourned.
