Pfeiffer, Mayor; Odell L. Brown, Street Commissioner; Tom Osburn, Water and Sewer Corrxnissioner; W. A. Stabs, Jr., Police and Fire Commissioner; Dennis C. Dunham, Healfh & Recreation Commissioner. MEMBERS OF COMMISSION ABSENT: None. OTHER C/TY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Clovis D. Mann, City Clerk, Cherries L. Pitman, City Attorney; Carlos Smith, City Engineer. * * ~ PRESIDING: Harold P. Commissioner Brown made a motion, seconded RESOLUTIOPJ NO. 78-63 by Commissioner Osburn, that Resolution No. 18-63 be RE: ABA~JDON STS, ALLEYS, passed. Motion carried. (Resolution No. 18-63 filed RDVWS, /N TRACT IN in Resolution Book.) Resolution as follows: WM. P. HARRIS AND JOHNSON HUNTER SURVE "BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDAINED that the CITY OF LA FORTE, TEXAS, upon presentatton of a copy of the Petition to the Commissioners Court of Harris County, Texas by D. L. HUNT et al to abandon certain streets, roads and alleyways in the Johnson Hunter League and William P. Harris Survey in Harris County, Texas, a copy of which Petition, together with a copy of the Notice of Hearing thereon, is attached hereto marked "Exhibit A" and incorporafed herein by ref- erence for a more particular description of said streets, roads and alleyways and for all other purposes, hereby determines that the City of La Porte has no plans for the development of the area which would be adversely affected by such abandonment and consents to such abandonment with- out further notice to, or action by the City of La Porte." • • 79. . 2. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded by ORDINANCE NO. 672 Commissioner Stabs, that Ordinance No. 672 be passed. Motion RE: CLOS/NG OF ALLE carried. Caption of Ordinance as follows: lP! BL K. 9109, L. P. AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE ALLEY LYING WITHIN BLOCK 9909, IN THE TOWN OF LA PORTS. 3. Commissioner Stabs made a mutton, seconded ORDINANCE NO. 664-A by Comvntssioner Dunham, that Ordinance No. 664-A, amending RE: AMENDMENT TO Sections 39 and 40 of Ordinance Number 664, be passed. ELEC. ORDINANCE Motion carried. Caption of Ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 39 and 40 OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 664. 4. Commissioner Dunham made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that statement from the Law Offices of Kiibler & Kiibler in the amount of four hundred eighty- seven dollars and forty cents (,~ 487.40) for legal services rendered in the purchase of Lots 9-99, both inclusive, Block 248, Town of La Porte, from the Lechenger Estate, be approved and paid. Motion carried. * • AUTHORIZATION TO PAY ATTY. FEES RE: LECHENGER EST. BL K . 248 5. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded NOTICE TO BIDDERS by Commissioner Dunham, that authorization be given to accept RE: FRT. END LOADER bids on a Back-hoe and Front End Loader for the meeting of BACK-HOE the Commission on June 7th, 9963. Motion carried. * . + 6. Motion was made by Commissioner Brown, seconded APPROVAL TO PAY by Commissioner Osburn, that a payment of four thousand dollarsKIIBLER & KlIBLER (~ 4,000.00) be made to the Law Offices of Kiibler & Kiibler ~ 4,000 FEES for legal services rendered in connection with the Annexation RE: AidNEX. SU/T Law Suit with the City of Houston. Motion carried. 7. Motion was made by Commissioner Brown, seconded DISCUSSION TO AMEND by Commissioner Dunham, that Ordinance No. 665, be amended to ORD. 665 change the minimum garbage collection fee for Commercial uses RE: GARBAGE FEES to one dollar (,~ 9.00) per month when the garbage collection service is the same as for residential, except that when a' business, advertised as such, is Located in a residence and is receiving residential service, the business will be assessed a charge of one dollar (,~ 9.00) per month, regardless of any other charge that may be made for the residence.
