Pfeiffer, Mayor; Tom Osburn, Water and Sewer Commissioner; Dennis C. Dunham, Health and Recreation Commissioner; Odell L. Brown, Street Commissioner; Commissioners-Elect Russell Shepherd and Frank G. Baker. MEMBERS OF COMMISSION ABSENT: W. A. Stabs, Jr., Police and Fire Commtssioner. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Clovis D. Mann, City Clerk; Carlos Smith, City Engineer; C. L. Pitman, City Attorney. PRESID/NG: Harold P. Pfeiffer, Mayor. Invocation was given by Reverend Pink A. Voss, Minister of the First Baptist Church of La Porte. 9. Minutes of the two previous meettngs of April 99 and April 25, 9963, were read. Commtssioner Brown made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Osburn, that the Minutes of the Special Meeting of April 25th, Section 2, be amended to show "Position No. 3" instead of"Posttion No. 2". The Minutes were then approved as amended. * . « 2. Commissioner Dunham made a motion, seconded COMMISSIONERS-ELECT by Commissioner Brown, that the Commissioners-Elect, Mr. ANNOUNCED OFFICIALL' Frank G. Baker and Mr. Russell Shepherd, be considered as i~UAL/PIED qualified for the office to which elected. Motion carried. • 3. The Mayor directed the City Clerk to Administer the Oath of Office to the Commissioners-Elect, whereupon Mr. Frank G. Baker and Mr. Russell Shepherd were duly sworn in as City Commissioners; Mr. Shepherd for Position 7 and Mr. Baker for Position 3. Bofh Commissioners then assumed the duties of Position 7 and 3, vacated by Dennis C. Dunham and Odell Brown respectively. 4. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Baker that dates of the Regular Meetings of the Commission. be changed from the first and third Fridays of each month, to the first and third Mondays of each month, effective with the next regular meeting to be held Monday, May 20th. Time of the meetings to remain at 7:00 o'clock p. m. The Agenda to be closed to new items at 5:00 o'clock on the Thursday prior to the meeting night. Motton carried. 84. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by STUDIED Commissioner Shepherd, that the matter be tabled for future meeting when all Commissioners could be present. Motion carried. 6. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by APPOINTMENT OF SW. Commissioner Baker, that Mr. Britton N. Phillips be employed POOL P'AP~iAGER FOR for the summer as Swimming Pool Manager at a salary of three SUMMER - PHILLIPS hundred dollars (,~ 300.00) per month. Motion carried. 7. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by BID LET TO REPAIR Commissioner Osborn, that the low bid of fifty-one dollars, (ALLEN) POLICE CAR ($ 51.00,) made by Clunn Motor Company for repairing Lee Allen's car be accepted. The other bid was made by Joe Camp Motors in the amount of eighty-eight dollars and thirty- nine cents (~ 88.39). Motion carried. * ~ 8. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by ORDINANCE NO. 674 Commissioner Osburn, that Ordinance No. 674, captioned as RE: STOPPING FOR follows, be passed and approved on final reading; Ordinance SCHOOL BUS to be effective on the eleventh (99th) day after the first publication of caption. Motion carried. AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT ALL VEHICLES SHALL STOP UPON MEETING OR OVERTAKING ANY SCHOOL BUS STOPPED FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING OR DISCHARGING ANY SCHOOL CHILDREN WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PCR TE; AND PROVIDING A.
