MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
of the
LA FORTE CITY COMM/SS/ON, LA FORTE, TEXAS
July 1, 1963
MEMBERS OF COMM/SSlON PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer;
Commtsstoners Frank G. Baker, Tom W. Osborn, and W. A. Stabs, Jr.
MEMBERS OF CUMM/SS/ON ABSENT: Commissioner
Russell Shepherd.
OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Clovis D. Mann,
City Clerk; Carlos Smith, City Engineer; Charles L. Pitman,
City Attorney; and H. F. Freeman, Police Chief.
Invocation was given by Mr. Isaac Gaffes, Minister
of the Northside Church of Christ.

1. Mr. H. B. Harrison appeared before the Commission
with a request that something be done to aid drainage on
South BiackwelZ, also requesting city help on un-stopping
Sewer Line. He felt that it was the City's line which was
stopped up, tnstead of his own line.
The Commission agreed to check both the drainage
and the sewer line.
2. Commissioner Osborn made a motion seconded by
Commissioner Baker, that Mr. Cliff Hyde be Tentatively
appointed Airport Manager, pendtng contracts of working
agreement which is to be completed. Motion carried.
3. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Stabs, that a printing calculator be purchased
for the City Hall offices for $ 540.50, less trade-in of
old printing calculator for ~ 125.00. Motion carried.

• 4. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded AUTHORIZATION TO

5. Commissioner Stubs mxtde a motion, seconded APPOINTMENT OF JOHN

ission" for Mr. John Wilcox be approved; such approval < N'AN
depending upon the approval of the Chief of Police at
the conclusion of the necessary investigatton. Motion
carried.
6. Motion was mxtde by Commissioner Stabs, seconded ADVERTISE FOR SALE OF
by Commissioner Osburn, that Block 4 be re-advertised for BLOCK 4, BAYFRON'T
bids, for sale; such bids to be received and opened on
August 19, 1963, at 7:00 p.m. Motion carried.

• 7. The Chief of Police requested permission to ADVERT/SE FOR B/DS
advertise for bids to feed prisoners. Commissioner Osburn FOR FEEDING PRISONERS
made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Baker that the
Chief of Police be given permission to advertise for bids.
Motion carried.
8. Motion was made by Commissioner Osburn, seconded RESOLUTION N0.29-63
by Commissioner Stabs, that Resolution No. 21-63, authorizing TAX ANTICIPATION
the City of La Porte to borrow the sum of .~ 54,110.73, to be NOTE .~ 54,990.73
evidenced by a Tax Anticipation Note to the La Porte State
Bank be approved. Motion carried.
9. Motion was made by Commissioner Baker, seconded RESOLUTION NO. 22-63
by Commissioner Osburn, that Resolution No. 22-63, authorizing TAX ANTICIPATION
the City of La Porte to borrow .~ 29,133.55 from the La Porte NCTE ~ 29,933.55
State Bank, to be evidenced by a Tax Anticipation and Chattel
Mortgage Note be approved. Motion carried.
10. Motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded RESOLUTION N0. 23-63
by Commissioner Baker, that Resolution No. 23-63, authorizing TAX ANTICIPATICN
the City of La Porte to borrow $ 12,638.22 from the La Porte NOTE .$ 92,638.22_
