MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
of the
LA FORTE CITY COMM/SS/ON, LA FORTE, TEXAS
August 19, 1963
7:00 P. M.
MEMBERS OF COMM/SS/ON PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer,
Commissioners Frank Baker, Russell Shepherd, W. A. Stabs, Jr.
MEMBERS OF GO/~1/SS/ON ABSENT: Commissioner Tom
Osburn.
OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Charles Pitman,
City Attorney; Carlos Smith, City Engineer; Clouts D. Mann,
City Clerk; H. F. Freeman, Police Chief.
PRESIDING: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer
• /nvocation was given by Reverend Ben Nlorrisson,
Associate Minister of the First Baptist Church of La Porte.

1. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 5, 1963
were read and approved. Minutes of the Special Meeting of
August 8, 1963 were read and corrected to show Carlos Smith,
absent. Minutes were approved as corrected.
2. Bids on Block 4, Bayfront Addition, were received BIDS ON BLOCK 4,
in accordance with City~s advertisement of acceptance of bids. BAYFRONT OPENED -
One bid was received from W. A. Stabs, Sr., in the amount of SOLD TO '//. A.
nine thousand two hundred fifty dollars, ($ 9,250.00). Bid STABS, SR.
was accompanied by a check for one thousand dollars, (~ 1,000.00).
Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd that Block 4, Bayfront addition be sold
to W. A. Stabs, Sr., as the highest bidder. Motion carried
with Commissioner W. A. Stabs, Jr. abstaining.

3. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by ORDINA!`dCE N0. 664-A

certain amendments to Ordinance No. 664, commonly caned O,RDINAlJCE)
the "Electrical Code", be passed on ftrst and ftnat reading.
Motion carried.

4. Motion made by Corrrnissioner Stabs, seconded
by Commissioner Baker, that the following accounts payable
be paid. Motion carried.

Rockwell Manufacturing Company 321.00
Utility Supply Company 264.49
Gulf State Asphalt Company 169.50

5. Motion made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded APPT. OF APPLEBE
by Commissioner Baker, that Leslte C. Phillips, Jr., 926 South AND PN/LL/PS AS
Kansas and E. W. "Sonny" Applebe, 602 East Main, be appotnted AUX. POLICE
Auxiliary Policemen and that each be issued a Police
Commisston. Motion carried.

6. Motion made by Commissioner Baker, seconded WITHDRAWAL OF FUNDS
by Commissioner Stabs, that the Director of Finance withdraw FROM BAYSHORE SAV/NG`
ten thousand dollars (,~ 10,000.00) from the City's /merest (~ 10,000.00)
and Sinking Fund Account in Bayshore Savings and Loan Association
and depostt same in the City of La Porte's Interest and Sinking
Fund Account at the La Porte State Bank. Motion carried.
7. The Mayor authorized a special called meeting SPECIAL MEETING
for Thursday, August 22, 1963, for the purpose of discussing CALLED TO DISCUSS
data processing with Mr. K. A. Wainscott, representing Machine DATA PI~OCES~>ING
Records, Inc. TAX SYSTEM.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned. ~
