1. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 2, 1963
were read and approved.
2. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Baker, that Ordinance No. 692 be passed on ftrst
and final reading. ~~otton carried. Caption as follows:
AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOS/NG THAT PORTION OF "A"
STREET LYING BETWEEN EIGHTEENTH (18th) STREET AND NINETEENTH (19th)
STREET AND BETWEEN BLOCK NO. S/X HUNDRED NINETY-ONE (691) AND BLOCK
NO. SEVEN HUNDRED FOURTEEN (714), AND VACATING, ABANDONING AND
CLOS/NG THAT PORTION OF THE SIXTEEN (16) FEET ALLEY IN SAID BLOCK
N0. SlX HUNDRED NINETY-ONE (691), EXTENDING FRAM THE SOUTH LINE OF
SAID BLOCK TO THE SOUTH L1NE OF LOT N0. SlX (6) AND LOT NO. TWENTY-
SEVEN (27) IN SAID BLOCK NO. SlX HUNDRED NINETY-ONE (691), OF THE
TOWN OF LA PORTS, IN HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS.
3. THe following bids recei ved on a 1964 Police Patrol
car were considered:

Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Osborn, that the low bid in the amount of two thous-
and ninety-five dollars, (,~ 2,095.00) presented by Joe Camp
Motors, be accepted. Motion carried.
4. Commissioner Osborn grade a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Baker, that the action of the City Administrator
in issuing a Zoud speaker permit to Bay Refrigeration Company,
1408 West Main, from December 9 through December 26, 1963, to
be used from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., be ratified; further,
that the City Attorney be requested to either amend or re-write
Ordinance No. 271, dated July 8, 1938, to authorize the City
Administrator to issue and revoke loud speaker permits with
certain specified provisions. Motion carried.
5. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Baker, that the City Clerk be authorized to adver-
ttse for bids on purchase of approximate 3,000 feet of water
pipe. Motion carried.
. 6. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Osborn, that Administrative Memorandum No. 9, dated
December 12, 1963, Subject: "Office Procedure in Collecting and
Receipting of Delinquent Taxes", be approved. Motion carried.
7. Commissioner Shepherd made a°::rnotion, seconded by
Commissioner Baker, that the following Administrative Memorandums
be approved. Mutton carried.
No. 1, "Administrative Memorandums," dated Nov. 7, 1963
No. 4, "Holidays", dated Nov. 14, 1963
No. 5, "Vacation Leave", dated Nov. 14, 1963
No. 6, "Sick Leave", dated Nov. 15, 1963
No. 7, "Emergency Leave," dated Nov. 15, 1963
No. 8, "injury Leave of Absence", dated Nov. 15, 1963
8. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd, that the City Engineer be authorized to
employ two additional persons when needed. Mottos carried.
9. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd, that the following accounts payable be
approved for payment: Motion carried.

' 10. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Osburn, that the City offer Cooper Land Company two
thousand dollars, (,~ 2,000.00) for three (3) lots on the corner
of San Jacinfo and "G" Street, provided a Warranty Deed is furn-
ished; or nine hundred dollars, ($ 900.00) for the three (3)
lots if a Warranty Deed is not furnished. Motion carried.

11. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Osburn, that a Purchase Order for thirty-six f36)
tons of asphalt topping shell be approved. Motion carried.
12. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd, that Purchase Order for one (?) weeks'
dozer rental be approved. Motion carried.
There being no further business at hand, the meeting
was adjourned.
