Pfeiffer, Commissioners Russell 'Shepherd, W. A. Stabs, Jr., Tom Osburn, and Frank G. Baker. * * ~ MEMBERS OF COMy/SS/ON ABSENT: None. OTHER C/TY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Clovis D. Mann, City Clerk; C. L. Pitman, City Attorney; Carlos Smith, City Engineer. PRESIDING: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer. Invocation was given by Reverend Oran L. Sigler, Minister of the La Porte Community Church. 1. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 16, 1963 and the Special Meeting of December 23, 1963 were read and approved. 2. Mr. C. E. Galyon, Gaylon-Oliver Company, Houston, Texas, presented plans for development of Block 11, Sylvan Beach Addition. Plans were tabled for further study. 3. Jay Carroll and Associates, Architects, Houston, Texas, presented a request to the Cify to close a sixteen (16) foot alley in Block 82, Town of La Porte, to permit utilization of the area in the proposed development of this block. Commissioner Osburn made a motion seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that the city give tentative approval for closing of alley dependent upon ftnal approval of proposed project by the Planning and Zoning Commission, and upon approval of the utility firms concerned, and provided that if project is not developed as proposed, that the alley way be deeded back to the Ctty. Motion carried. 142. - ~ • 4. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Baker, the followtng Accounts Payable be approved for payment: Motion carried. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that Purchase Order No. 497-A, for the purchase of 24 - 5/8" Meters be approved. Motion carried. 6. Motion made by Comanissioner Baker, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the application for renewal of Taxi- cab permit for the La Porte Taxi Company, presented by T. E. Bolding, be renewed. Motion carried. 7. Motion made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner Osborn, that Ordinance No. 271-A, amending Ord- inance No. 271, be approved on first and final reading. Motion carried. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 271, PROVIDING THAT THE CITY CLERK SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO ISSUE THE PERMITS AUTHORIZED IN ORDINANCE SUBJECT TO REVOCATION AT ANY TIME BY THE CITY COMM/SS/ON. * * ~ 8. Motion made by Commissioner Osborn, seconded by Commissioner Baker, that the City Engineer be granted approval to do additional construction to his office to enlarge office space. Motion carried. 9. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that employees called to jury duty be allowed a continuation of their regular pay, which shall be in addition to their jury pay, for such time as is commensurate wtth their jury duty.
