MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
of the
LA PORTS CITY COMM/SS/ON, LA PORTS, TEXAS
June 15, 1964
7:00 p. m.
PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners
Frank G. Baker, Tom Osburn, W. A. Stabs, Jr.,
Russell Shepherd.
ABSENT: None.
OTHERS PRESENT: Clovis D. Mann, City Clerk; C. L. Pitman,
City Attorney; Carlos Smith, City Engineer.
PRESIDING: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer.

1. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 1, 1964,
Special Meeting of June 4, 1964, and Special Meeting of
June 8, 1964 were read and approved. Attention was called
to the fact that the Special Meeting called for June 14, 1964,
at 3:00 p. m., as reflected in the minutes of June 4, 1964,
• was not held.

2. Mayor Pfeiffer announced that he had been
notified that the additional work of installing a signal
system at the 5-Point Intersection of Main and Broadway
by the State Highway Department would begtn immediately.

3. Mayor Pfeiffer also announced that he had
requested the necessary forms from the Federal Aviation
Administration to apply for eligibility on Federal partic-
ipation to Airport improvements.
4. Commisstoner Osburn made a motion, seconded
by Commissioner Baker that City Engineer Smith be authorized
to employ the help necessary to repair the Municipal Airport
fence. Motion carried.

5. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd, that the following Purchase Orders be
approved: Motion carried.

6. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded
by Commissioner Osburn, that the following taxes be cancelled
from the Tax Roil. Sufficient evidence has been presented
to indicate that the taxes have been paid, and therefore
have been erroneously carried on the Tax Roll as unpaid.
Motion carried.
Lots 3, 4, 5 and 6, Block 27, BayFront
Addition, for the year 1921.
Lots 3 & 4, Block 27, Bay Front Addition,
for the year of 1925.

7. Sufficient evidence having been submitted
to indicate that no improvements have existed on Lots 12 thru
• _' 19, Block 34, Beach Park Addition, since 1935; Commissioner
• Stabs made a. .motion, seconded by Commissioner Baker, that
the taxes shown on the Tax Roll for /mprovements since
January 1, 1936, be cancelled as being erroneously carried.
Motion carried.
8. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded
by Commissioner Shepherd, that City Engtneer Smtth be auth-
orized to secure services of Lane-Texas Wells Company to
check WeZI No. 4, and make the necessary repairs. Motion
carried.

RELEASE OF PAVING LIEN
WHEREAS,by Ordinance Number 454 passed by the City
Commission of the City of La Porte on the 6th day of November, 1953,
and Ordinance Number 456 passed on the 4th day of December, 1953,
by the City Commission of the City of La Porte, the Ciry of La Porte,
did assess, among other parcels of land, Lots 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and
22 in Block 133 of the Town of La Porte, with certain charges for the
construction of continuous curb and gutter and for the cost of paving
South Broadway (State Highway Number 146) in the City of La Porte; and,
WHER-EAS, the City of La Porte did never transfer or assign
• its right to the collection of the monies due under said assessment; and,
WHEREAS, the City of La Porte did cause certain liens to be
placed of record with the County Clerk of Harris County to insure the
payment of the sum assessed against said lots and block and among
other places did file in Volume 2261 at Page 501 of the Mortgage Records
of Harris County, notice of such assessment.
NOW, THEREFORE, KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
THAT, the City of La Porte, the rightful owner and holder of
said liens, for and:'in consideration of the full and final satisfaction to
the City of La Porte of all obligations created by virtue of said Ordinances
454 and 456, does hereby release, remise and discharge any liens and ob-
• legations created by said Ordinances insofar as the following described
property is affected, to-wit:
Lots Seventeen (17), Eighteen (18), Nineteen (19),
Twenty (20), Twenty-one (21) and Twenty-two (22)
in Block One Hundred Thirty-three (133) of the .
Town of La Porte in Harris County, Texas.
