Pfeiffer, Commissioners Frank G. Baker, Russell Shepherd, W. A. Stabs, Jr. ABSENT: Commissioner Tom Osburn. OTHERS PRESENT: City Clerk Clovis D. Mann; City Attorney C. L. Pitman. PRESIDING: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer. 1. lnvocatton was given by Reverend Lewts Tucker, N/inister of the First Methodist Church. 2. /Hinutes of the Regular Meeting of July 6, 1964, were read and approved, with an amendment to delete Section 9 thereof, which called for a Budget Hearing for Jc,1y 20, 1964. 3. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that advertising for bids on an Asphalt Distributor with bids to be opened at 7:00 p. m., August 3, 1964, be approved. Motion carried. ~ ~ 4. Commissioner Stabs mcxde a motion, seconded by Commisstoner Shepherd, that advertising for bids for three thousand (3,000) lineal feet of eighf (8) inch Cement Asbestos ptpe to be used for highway crossing, with bids to be opened 7:00 p.m., August 3, 1964, be approved. Motion carried. * * ~ 5. Ouotations on a thirteen (13) wheel p~eu- matic roller were opened. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that bids be tabled unttl such time as they could be checked against .specifications, after which time the best bid would be accepted, and purchase authorized. Motion carried. Quotations received from the following: 2I0 Boehck Engineering Company, Houston J. W. Chumley Machinery Company, Houston R. B. Everett & Company, Houston Gardner Machinery Co., Houston Goddard Machinery Company, Houston Hi-way Equipment Company, Houston Mustang Tractor & Equipment Company, Houston South Texas Equipment Company, Houston ~ ~ 6. Quotations on uniform rentals were opened. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commisstoner Shepherd, that the quotations be tabled until such time they could be analyzed to determine the best quotations. Motion carried. Quotations received from the following: Industrial Towel & Uniform Company, P. O. Box 15126, Houston, Texas 5 Uniforms - 2 changes, @ 1.70 per week, inittai service charge ~ 1.50. 7 Uniforms - 3 changes @ 2.25 per week, initial service charge 2.00. 9 Uniforms - 4 changes per week, L 3.10, • initial charge 2.50. 11 Uniforms - 5 changes, @ 3.80 per wee t, initial charge ,~ 3.00. /needa, 3520 Center Street, Houston, Texas 16 Men, 5 changes, ~ 375 per man. 2 Men, Coveralls, 2 changes, ~ 1.50 per man, one (1) uniforms extra for first week for the swtng change, 75~ per man. Mechanics Uniform Supply Company, Houston 5 Changes per week @ 3.80 3 Coveralls with 2 changes per week ~ 1.70. 7. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Baker, that the City purchase the tractor and trailer, which we are now leasing from the Mustang Tractor Company. Such purchase in accordance with agree- ment entered tnto with Mustang Tractor Company on May 4, 1964. Purchase price, seven thousand three hundred forty dollars, • ($ 7,340.00). Motion carried. • • 211 8. Quotations on one thousand (9,000) tons of asphalt street material for use during fiscal year were opened. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the quotation be tabled until they can be analyzed, at which time purchase will be auth- ori~ed. Motion carried. Quotations received as follows: Uvalde Rock Asphalt Company ~ 4.75 per ton at destination White's Mines, San Antonio $ 4.88 per ton g. Mr. Dick Cunningham was requested to have plans for remodeling of Dog Pound ready for the next meeting so the possibility of remodeling could be dis- cussed. • 10. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that a Public Hearing on the proposed Budget be called for the Regular Meeting of August , 1964. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded ~ by Commissioner Shepherd, that when an owner moves his ~~ house from one site to another, the charge for relocating the water meter wilt be the actual cost of installation r only. Motion carried. ,~O ~~ 12. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Baker, that C. W. Leach be employed as a full time radio dispatcher; that Ronnie Runnels, now part time radio dispatcher be place on full time; and that Jack Massey, now radio dispatcher, be appointed probationary Patrolman. Motion can led. 13. Motion made by Commissioner .Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that M. A. Quitta, Mechanic, be auth- orized twn dollars, (~ 10.00) per week for the use of his truck and toots. Motion carried. • • 212 9y.. Motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, and seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that a size 5 starter be purchased for Well No. 4, from Etectricai Controller Products Company, Houston, at a cost of approximately one thousand six hundred dollars, ~~ 9,600.00).
