• • 235 MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING of the LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION, LA FORTE, TEXAS October 26, 1964 7:00 p.m. MEMBERS OF COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners Frank G. Baker, Russell Shepherd, & W. A. Stabs, Jr. MEMBERS OF CQMM/SS/ON ABSENT: Commtsstoner Tom Osburn. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney C. L. Pitman, City Cierk Clovis D. Mann, City Engineer Carlos , Smith, and Water Superintendent Lyman Cunningham. PRESIDING: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer. * * ~ 1. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 12, ?964, Special Meeting of October 17, 1964, and Special Meeting of October 21, 1964 were read and approved. • 2. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that thefollowing Accounts Payable be approved for payment: Motion carried. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the following Purchase Orders be approved: Motton carried. No. 3053 White Supply Co. ~ 403.00 No. 3058 Cordell Brick Company 145.00 No. 3062 Mabry Foundry & Machine 250.20 4. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that Ordinance No. 707 be approved on first & final reading. Motion carried. Caption as follows: • • 236 AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT CREATED BY ARTICLE 620-18 OF ORDINANCE 620 OF THE LAWS OF THE CITY OF LA FORTE, PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES AND SETTING THE TERM OF OFFICE OF EACH MEMBER. 5. Mr. E. H. Malone, 730 South Blackwell, and Mr. Bert Brandt, 722 South Blackwell, appeared before the Comm- ission, requesting that South Blackwell be opened to the Bay. They were assured by the Commission that the matter would be pursued further, to determine whether the Street could be opened. 6. Reverend Pinkney appeared before the Commission with a group of citizens in regard to a proposed Day Care Nursery at the Northside Community Building. The Commission tnformed him that the United Day Care Association had approved pay Care Nursery for the Northside, dependent upon the following needs being met by the City: a. Seventy-five (75) square feet fenced area per child. (Rev. Pinkney felt that 150 to 200 more feet of wire . ` would be needed.) ~+. b. Dishwasher. ~ c. Partition (portable) in building to run east and ~ west. Z d. Approxtmately 4~ x 12' partition to close off space at West End for storage place. O e. Wall shelves on north and south walls, approx- ~ imately four (4) feet long, and three (3) feet above floor for storage of supplies. f. A twelve (12) foot by twelve (12) f®ot outside utility building for equipment storage. The Commission instructed City Engineer Smith to determine the cost of these articles and report back to the Commission. 7. Motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, and carried, that the Ctty Attorney be instructed to prepare a Zitter Ordinance to present to the Commission at its next meeting. • 8. Commissi©ner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Baker, and carried, that the Public Works Depart- ment be authorzzed to raise the wages for the following two employees as indicated: • • 237 J. C. Vann, from ,~ 9.58 per hr. to ,~ 9.63 per hour. Fred Beck, from ~ 9.47 per hr. to ~ 1.52 per hr. There being no further business at hand, the meeting wre[s adjourned. ~ ~ '7 N. P.
