Pfeiffer, Commissioners W. A. Stabs, Jr., and Russell Shepherd. MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION ABSENT: Commissioners rank G. Baker, and Tom W. Osburn. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Special Legal Counsel Knox Askins, City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, Water Superintendent Lyman Cunningham, Temporary City Clerk Marilyn Kelley, and Fire Marshall Gould Crofc~ot. VISTORS PRESENT: Ernest L. Brown, Jr. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + ~- + 1. Minutes of the regular meeting of March 15, 19b5 were read and approved. + + + 2. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that the City Engineer be authorized to make a survey to determine the location of Donaldson Street, as per an agreement made between H. S. Filson and W. H. Brenton, and recorded with Harris County. Motion carried. + + + 3. Mr. Ernest L. Brown, Jr. of Moroney, Beissner & Company, Inc., presented Ordinance # 711, calling and election of the issuance of Bonds in the amount of $ 865,000. Of this amount $ 565,000. are General Obligation Bonds, and $ 300,000. are Water Revenue Bonds. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that said election be called for April 27, 1965. Motion Carried. + + + • • !t. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the purchase of 55 gallons of Larvacide, form National Chemsearch Corporation, $138.65 be approved. Motion carried. + + + 5. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that the purchase of a 1957 Chevrolet Pickup Truck, for $500.00, from H. Carlos Smith, be ratified. Motion carried. + + + 6. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that Highway Equipment Company by authorized to make an estimated $3,000.00 repair to the Hopto. Motion carried. + + + 7. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion seconded by Commissioner Stabs that H. Carlos Smith be allowed a car allowance of $50.00 per month, plus gas and oil while in City use, for use of his personal truck, during the planning and construction phases of the Bond Issue. Motion carried. + + + 8. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, and carried, that raises for the following enployees be ratified: Harold Hunt From $1.7l~ to $1.81 Fred Beck (Permanent Statue) From $1.52 to $1.62 L. J. Cotton From $1.l~7 to $1.57 J. C. Cotton From $1.63 to $1.68 + + + 9. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that purchase of 504 yards of sand stablized shell from Highway Construction Materials Company, be approved. Motion carried. + + + • • 10. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd that a 250 watt, recondi- tioned, indoor, upright base station be purchased from Motorola Communications & Electronics, Inc., for $950.00. Motion carried. + + + 11. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd that one two Frequency Motrac Mobil Unit for the Patrol car, be purchased from Motorola, for $799.00. Motion carried. f + + 12. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd that purchase of three Plectron Tone Activated Monitor radios for the Fire Department be approved. Motion carried. + + + 13. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner Stabs and carried that the following persons be appointed to the Library Board: Dr. W. R. Davison Dallas Aker Bi.l1 Boaze~ Jr. Mrs. Robert White Mrs. C. J. woos Mrs. Carol Smith Mrs. C. D. Jenkins + + + ].l~. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that a resolution approving the sale of the South (6) feet of Lot 22, Block 60, Town ~f La Forte be adopted. Motion carried. + + + 15. The City Clerk was instructed to check all strips and assess any that are not on the Tax Roll. Further that she be authorized to hire necessary personal for this purpose. + + + ~J 16. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherds seconded by Commissioner Stabs and carried. that the following accounts payable be approved. Machine Records (881 Del. Tax Statements) $ 221.00 C, H. Commissioner Stabs made a motions seconded by Commissioner 3hepherd~ and carried that Ordinance No. 416A be approved and passed on first and final reading: CAPTION AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1116, BY INCREASING THE AUT?-iORIZED AND PRESCRIBED FEE TO BE PAID TO THE CITY FOR THE CATCHING OF EACH STRAY DOG FROM THE SUM OF ONE AND 50100 DOLLARS (1.50) TO THE SUM OF THREF~ DOLLARS (3.00). + + + 18. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs and seconded by Commissioner Shepherd that a contract be signed with Harris County for Radio Rental for a period of one year (1-1-65 thru 12-31-65).
