Pfeiffer, Commissioners Tom Osburn, Frank Baker, and W. A. Stabs, Jr. MEMBERS OF THE CQMMISS/ON ABSENT: Commtssioner Russell Shepherd. OTHER CITY OFF/C/ALS PRESENT: Special Legal Counsel Knox Asktns, City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, Water Superintendent Lyman Cunningham, and Temporary Ctty Clerk Marilyn Kelley. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 1. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 5, 1965 were read and approved, with the folCowing amendment: Item No. 8, last line amended to read "J. C. Vann" instead of "J. C. Cotton". + + + 2. The Commission amended previous instructions to the City Engineer, thus advising him to use any plots necessary to determine the correct location of Donaldson Street. + + + 3. B. W. Broadwater appeared before the Commission in protest of the cost of installing 600' of water line to his home. Actton was tabled until the next regular meeting at which time the City Engineer will present a copy of the original estimated cost of the project. + + + 4. Bayshore Municipal Utility Dtstrtct asked that the City pass a Resolution stating that the City would not annex any part of the district until they are able to annex it completely. After much discussion, Commisstoner Osburn made a mottos, and seconded by Commtssioner Stabs that action be tabled for further study. Motion carrted. + + + u • 5. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that the request from Bayshore Baptist Church to use the old Fireman's Quarters for their services be rejected. Motion carried. + + + 6. A motion was made by Commissioner Osburn, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that the City Engtneer be permitted to attend the Spring meeting of the American Soctety of Civil Engineers, April 28, 29, and 30 in Beaumont. Motion carried. + + + 7. Bids were received for the sale of the South Fourteen (14) feet, save the South Six feet (6) of Lot No. Twenty-Two (22) in Block No. Sixty (60) of the Town of La Porte. La Porte State Bank submitted a bid stating the following considerations: 1. The sum of Ten Dollars (.10.00) cash; and 2. The conveyance to the City of the South Ten (10) Feet of Lot No. 24, Block No. 60, Town of La Porte. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Osburn that the City sell La Porte State Bank said property for the above stated considerations and an easement through their now existing property. Motion carried. + + + 8. Commissioner Stabs made a mottos, seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried that the following accounts payable be approved for payment. Highway Construction Materials Co. 2,359.80 + + + 9. A motion was made by Commissioner Baker, seconded by Commissioner Osburn that a Special meeting be called for 5:30 P. M. Aprit 28, 1965 to canvass the votes of the Election of April 27, 1965. Motion Carried. + + + • s 10. Commtssioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Baker that Trawlers /assurance Company carry the Group /assurance for another year, and that the City continue to carry the same per cent of the cost as before. Motion carried. + + + 11. A motion was made by Commissioner Baker, seconded by Commissioner Osborn, that the City precede with the streef oiling program. Motion carried. + + + 12. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commtssioner Osborn, that W. A. Arthur be employed as vacation relief for two weeks starting May 8, 1965. Motion carried. + + + 13. Commissioner Stabs stated that there is X700 in the budget for air condtttontng the Fire Station, and that the Volunteer Fire Department has offered to lend the City the balance necessary to complete this installation. Commissioner Baker made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that bids be presented at the next meeting. Motion carried. + + + 14. A motion was made by Commissioner Osborn, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that Al Braun Company be given a year's maintenance contract for servicing the air conditioner at the City Hall. Motion carried. + + + 15. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commis- sioner Baker that Edward G. Clarke, 809 South 3rd, La Porte be given an Auxiliary Police Commission. Motion carried. + + + 16. A motion was made by Corrmisstoner Baker, seconded by Commissioner Osborn, that two temporary men be hired by the Public Works Department during the mowing season, and that one permanent man be hired for the Street Department. Motion carried. + + + • u 17. The City Clerk was advised to prepare forms to be used to advertise for btd of Depository of the City Funds.
