MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING

LA PORTS CITY CQMM/SS/ON, LA FI~RTE, TEXAS
October 25, 9965
MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer,
Commissioners Russell Shepherd, W. A. Stabs, Jr., and
Lois J. Compton.
MEMBERS OF THE COINISSION ABSENT: Tom IN. Osburn
OTHER CITY OFF/C/ALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox Askins,
Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, City Engineer H.
Carlos Smith, and City Clerk Marilyn Kelley.

9. Minutes of the Regular meeting of October 4, 1965
and the Special meeting of October 6, 1965 were
approved as written.

2. Bids for the construction of the new Library, Civic
Center and Jatl additions were received. from Moore
& Moore, Spaw Glass, /nc., and John Kroak, /nc. (See
Exhibif No. 9). Action was tabled for tabulatton of
bids.

3. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd and carried that Resolution
be passed on first and final reading.

AS "LA FORTE INDUSTRY APPRECIATION MONTH".

4. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd and
seconded by Comr»issioner Compton that C. L. Pttman
no longer be authorized to handle any City Business.
Further that ail assignments be turned over to Knox
Askins. Motion carried.

5. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd that the City Engineer prepare
for the next meeting, an estimate of cost for construct-
ing the Segmented Circle at the Airport. Motion carried.

6. The Commission had considerable discussion on a proposed
Mobil Home Ordinance and a proposed Sign and Billboard
Ordinance. Action was tabled for further study.

7. The City Engineer was instructed to draw plans for
extendtng sewer lines under Polk Street, to serve the
North Side.

8, Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Compton and carried that the following Accounts Payable
be approved:

9. A motion was mad a by Commissioner Stubs, and seconded
by Commissioner Shepherd that Cummins, Reed and Clements
be authorized to negotiate with Moore & Moore, low bidder
for the construction of the Library, Civic Center and
additions to the Jaii. Motion carried.

90. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd and carried that the following
Purchase Orders be approved:

11, A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd and
seconded by Commissioner Stabs that H. Carlos Smith
be authorized to attend Water Technoiogy Course, Texas
A & M Untversity, November 15-19, 1965. Motion carried.

12. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Shepherd that roofs for the pump houses at Water PCants
No. 3 and 4 be purchased from Flexicore of Texas, /nc.,
.973.00. Motion carried.

13. Chief of Police Freeman and Commissioner Stabs were
instructed to work wtth City Attorney Knox Askins
in preparing proposed amendments to the Abandoned
Car Ordtnance.

14. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commis-
sioner Shepherd that the Chief of Police be authorized
to take bids on anew Pa#rol Car. Motion carried.

15. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded
by Commissioner Stabs and carried that street Ztghts
be installed at the following locations:
"G" and 5th
"H" and 5th
Park and Garfield
Park and "J"
4th and "J"

16. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Compton that the second meeting in
November be changed from November 15, 1965 to
November 22, 1965. Motion carried.
