Pfeiffer, Commissioners Tom W. Osborn, Russell Shepherd, and Lois J. Compton. MEMBERS OF THE COMN/SS/ON ABSENT: Commissioner W. A. Stabs. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox Askins, City Engineer H. Carlos Smtth, and City Clerk Marilyn Kelley. VISTORS PRESENT: Ernest Brown, Jr. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 1. Minutes of the regular meeting of November 22, 1965 and special meeting of November 24, 1965, were approved as written. • + + + 2. Ernest Brown presented the proposed schedules for the retirement of Airport Revenue Bonds. After an sxplanation of the Ordinance, Commissioner Osborn moved, seconded by Commtssioner Shepherd that Ordinance No. 726 be passed on first and final reading: CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF X60,000. AIRPORT REVENUE BONDS. + + + 3. A motion was made by Commissioner Osborn, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd and carried that bids for the proposed airport construction be received on Monday, December 27, 1965, at 4:00 P.M. Motion carried. + + + 4. Jay Marks presented the Commission the necessary releases requtred for the closing of "A" Street between 10th and 11th Streets. Commissioner Compton made a motion seconded by Commissioner Osborn that Ordinance No. 727 be passed on firsf and final reading. CAPTION AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE PORTION OF WEST "A" STREET LYING W/THIN THE AREA BOUNDED BY SOUTH TENTH STREET (90th) AND SOUTH ELEVENTH STREET (99th), AND BETWEEN BLICK TWENTY* S/X (26) AND BLOCK FORTY-SEVEN (47), IN THE TOWN OF LA FORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS. + + + $. Robert J. Daniels, 409 North 6th, president of the La Porte Community Service Club, appeared in behalf of his group, requesting the City Commission to establish Public Housing for La Porte. The City Attorney was requested to investigate the requirements for such a project. + + + 6. The City Clerk was authorized to make a survey of other cities as to the cost charged for copies of City doucments. + + + 7. The Commission discussed a policy establishing a retirement age for City employees. The City Attorney was requested to investigate the possibility of the City partictpating in the Texas Municipal Retirement System program. + + + 8. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd and carried that all City employees be paid on a bi-weekly basis, effective January 1, 1966. + + + 9~ A motion was made by Commissioner Osburn, seconded by Commissioner Compton, that Knox Askins be paid .1,898.57 for his percent of delinquent tax col- lections in November. Motion carried. + + + 10. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton and carried that the following accounts payable be approved: Highway Construction Materials $1,238.80 Highway Construction Materials 152.40 White Supply Company 162.00 Texas Municipal League 190.00 + + + :7 • 99. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Commissioner Osborn that purchase order no. 4925, Highway Construction Materials, X336.00, be approved. Motion carried. + + + 92. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd that due to a double assessment, the 9959 taxes on a 34.93 ac. tract in the David Harris Survey, be cancled. Motion carded. + + + 93. Commissioner Osborn made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton that a Resolution establishing an "Industrial Distrtct" be approved. Motion carried. (See Exhibit No. 9) + + + 94. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner Compton the payment of X5,000. to Strasburger, Price Kelton, Miller & h`artin be approved. Motion carried. + + + 95. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton that Knox Askins be authorized to negotiate a workable contract with Hov-Port Aviation.
