MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE
LA PORTS CITY COMM/SS/ON, LA PORTS, TEXAS
DECEMBER 27, 1965
MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON PRESENT: Mayor N. P. Pfeiffer,
Commissioners Tom W. Osburn, Russell Shepherd,
Lois J. Compton, and W. A. Stabs, Jr.
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None
OTHER CITY OFF/C/ALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox Askins,
Special Legal Attorney John Kiibler, Jr., City
Engineer H. Carlos Smith, and City Clerk Marilyn
Kelley.
PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer.

1. Bids were received for the construction of the
Atrport improvements. Bids were tabled for a
tabulation, and approval of Federal Aviation.

2. Commissioner Osburn made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd that Ordinance No. 729 be
passed on first and final reading.
CAPTION:
AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING A PART OF THE AREA LOCATED
IN THE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF THE CITY OF
LA PORTS, TEXAS, AS AN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT, TO BE
KNOWN AS THE "BATTLEGROUhID JNDUSTRIAL DISTRICT OF LA
FORTE"; RESERVING AND PRESERVING ALL RIGHTS, POWERS
AND DUTIES OTHERWISE REPOSING BY LAW IN THE CITY
COMMISSION OF LA FORTE; AND PROVIDING A SAV/NGS
CLAUSE.

3. A motion was made by Commtsstoner Osburn, seconded
by Corrmissioner Stabs and carried that the following
Resolutions authorizing the Mayor, City Commission,
and City Clerk to enter into contracts with the
following Industries, be passed on first and final
reading:
Resolution 65-45 - Housfon Lighting & Power Company
Resolution 65-46 - National Petro Chemicals Corporation
Resolution 65-47 - E. 1. DuPont De Nemours & Company
Resolution 65-48 - A-B Chemical Corporation

4. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Compton that Resolution No. 65-49,
terminating a certin agreement dated December 22,
9958, between the City and Industries made parties
to that agreement dated December 30, 9969, between
the City and the same parties and?or their successors,
be passed. Motion carried.

5. John Kiibler, Jr. presented the City with a statement
for legal services on the Industrial Contract, in
the amount of $9,045.00, Approval of payment was
withheld.

6. Mr. Ernest Brown advised the City Commission by Letter
that it would be advisable to change the date of the
Airport Revenue Bonds, Series 9965 from January 95
to December 15. The City Commission had previously
passed, at its regular meeting of December 6, 9965,
Ordinance No. 726, authoriztng the issuance of these
Revenue Bonds. Mr. Brown presented to the Commission
with his letter a substitute Ordinance No. 730, identical
in ali respects to Ordinance No. 726 with the exception
of the change of date of the Bonds, and recommended that
Ordtnance No. 726 be repealed. On motion of Commissioner
Shepherd and seconded by Commissioner Osborn Ordinance
No. 730 was passed on first and final reading.

7. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by
Commissioner Osborn that Ordinance No. 739 be passed
on first and final reading.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND
THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS FOR AND ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY OF LA PCRTE TO EXECUTE ANG TO AFFIX THE SEAL
OF THE CITY TO AN AGREEMENT OF LEASE BETWEEN THE CITY
AS LESSOR, AND HOU-FART AVIATION, INC., AS LESSEE, FOR
A PERIOD OF TWENTY YEARS, BEGINNING ON THE 1ST DAY OF
J:'!NUARY, 9966, AND ENDING ON THE ;?'ST DAY OF DECEMBER,
1985, W1 TH OPT IONS FOR RENE4ilALS, FO:R HE LEASE OF A
PORTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT,
TOGETHER WITH THE RIGHT TO USE APPURTENANT FACILITIES
THEREAT, ACCORDING TO THE TERMS, PROVISIONS AND
CONDITIONS CONTAINED IN SAID AGREEMENT, A COPY OF WHICH
lS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; PROVIDING A
SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS
ORDINANCE.
