La Porte, Texas
Gentlemen:
<' ~ '~
On February 8, 1966, I tendered my cashier's check to the City of
La Porte, in the sum of $5,110.75; pursuant to the estimated cost
by your City Engineer. in a letter dated 7a~nuary 24, 1966 (Attached),
for construction of new sewer and w.ate.r lines to facilitate the
closing of alleys. in Blocks No. 157 and 180, of the Town of LaPorte,
and that portion of "I" Street lying between .the two blocks.
In shortening the eight-inch sewer line .running South on Firtt
Street from "H " Street from 840 feet to 635 feet, and the elimination
of one manhole, $f124.00 will be saved from your Engineer's estimated
cost.
Because of the above saving, and an oversight that could in the
future necessitate. the connecting of a four- or six-inch sewer
line to .Lot No. 17 and 18, on "H" Street, a distance of 370 feet
on South Broadway, I hereby authorize the City of La Porte to
put asi.~e $724.00 in escrow (out of the certified check in the
sum of $5,110.75) to cover the cost of this sewer from "H"
.Street south along Broadway to the northeast corner of Lot No.
18, in Block No. 157, of the Town of La Porte, Harris County,
Texas.
Upon the written .request of C. L. Pitman, Attorney, for Marguerite
Pitman, or Marguerite Pitman, owner of Lots 17 and 18, in Block
No. 157, you are authorized to use said sum of $724.00 to construct
a sanitary sewer line of four- or six-inches, as needed, on the
west side of Br.oad~ray from "H" Street to the northeast corner of
Lot 18, in Block No. 157, Should. the $724.00 in escrow for this
purpose not be used within two (2) years from date, said money
shall be returned to Frank R. Boyle, Sr.
The City of La Porte hereby agrees to act as Escrow Agent, as
evidenced'by the signature of its Mayor, affixed hereto, and. the
signature and seal of its City Clerk.
