Pfeiffer, Commtssioners W. A. Stabs, Jr:., Tom W. Osburn, Russell Shepherd, and Lois J. Compton. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None OTHER CITY OFF1ClALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox Asktns, Cify ngineer H. Carlos Smith, and City Clerk Marilyn Kelley. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 1. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Osburn that the Mayor be authorized to sign an Escrow Agree- ment between Frank R. Boyle, Sr., and C. L. Pitman. Motion carried. (See Exhibit f{9) + + + 2. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, "seconded by Commis- sioner Compton and carried that Ordinance No. 749 by passed on first and final reading; CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 739, PASSED AND APPROVED ON FEBRUARY 9, 9966. + + + 3. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd and carried that Ordinance No. 742 be passed on first and final reading; CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDON/NG AND CLOSING THE ALLEY LYING WITHIN BLOCK ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-SEVEN (957) IN T.HE TOWN OF LA FORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS. + + + 4. A Lengthiy discussion of the street paving program was held. It was agreed that the assessment for pafing streets running ~!' North and South will be on a 9/3 basis, with a possible assessment on a 1/4 basis for streets running East and West. The City Engineer was authorized to preceed wifh plans on these terms. • + + + I I • 5. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commis- ~~' sinner Stabs that the purchase of 1,134 ft. of gale. pipe @ .31 from Gulf Steei Company to be used at the Little League Ba11 Park be ratified. Motion carried. + + + 6. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd that Victor Urdiales be employed as a Police Dispatcher, X350. per month. Motion carried. + + + 7. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that Charles Warrick be paid for a two week vacation. Motion carried. + + + 8. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that H. W. Clarke be paid for a one week vacation. Mayor and City Commission City of La Porte La Porte, Texas Gentlemen: <' ~ '~ On February 8, 1966, I tendered my cashier's check to the City of La Porte, in the sum of $5,110.75; pursuant to the estimated cost by your City Engineer. in a letter dated 7a~nuary 24, 1966 (Attached), for construction of new sewer and w.ate.r lines to facilitate the closing of alleys. in Blocks No. 157 and 180, of the Town of LaPorte, and that portion of "I" Street lying between .the two blocks. In shortening the eight-inch sewer line .running South on Firtt Street from "H " Street from 840 feet to 635 feet, and the elimination of one manhole, $f124.00 will be saved from your Engineer's estimated cost. Because of the above saving, and an oversight that could in the future necessitate. the connecting of a four- or six-inch sewer line to .Lot No. 17 and 18, on "H" Street, a distance of 370 feet on South Broadway, I hereby authorize the City of La Porte to put asi.~e $724.00 in escrow (out of the certified check in the sum of $5,110.75) to cover the cost of this sewer from "H" .Street south along Broadway to the northeast corner of Lot No. 18, in Block No. 157, of the Town of La Porte, Harris County, Texas. Upon the written .request of C. L. Pitman, Attorney, for Marguerite Pitman, or Marguerite Pitman, owner of Lots 17 and 18, in Block No. 157, you are authorized to use said sum of $724.00 to construct a sanitary sewer line of four- or six-inches, as needed, on the west side of Br.oad~ray from "H" Street to the northeast corner of Lot 18, in Block No. 157, Should. the $724.00 in escrow for this purpose not be used within two (2) years from date, said money shall be returned to Frank R. Boyle, Sr. The City of La Porte hereby agrees to act as Escrow Agent, as evidenced'by the signature of its Mayor, affixed hereto, and. the signature and seal of its City Clerk. 5.~~ Frank R.
