SPECIAL MEETING - MINUTES
OF THE
• LA FORTE CITY COMMISSION, LA FORTE, TEXAS
March 14, 1966
MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commis-
sioners Russell Shepherd, Lois J. Compton, and W. A. Stabs.
MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON ABSENT: Tom W. Osburn.
OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox Asktns, City
ngineer H. Carlos Smith, and City Clerk Marilyn Kelley.
PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer.

1. A motion was made by Commisstoner Shepherd, and seconded by
Commissioner Compton that the Mayor be authorized to stgn
the final voucher fo the State on the Comperhensive Plan.
Motion carried.

2. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, and seconded by
Commissioner Stabs that the City pay dues for employees
only when a Ctty related organization is in question.
Motion carded.

3. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs that H. Carlos Smith be authorized to attend a meeting
of the Comperhensive Water Plan for the State of Texas.

4. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by
commissioner Stabs and carried that Ordinance No. 743
be passed on first and final reading.

5. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Compton that Estimate No. 1, X2,907.00, Moore & Moore be
approved for payment. Motion carried.

6. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs and seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd that the Mayor be authorized to
contact persons to serve on a Citizens Study Group for
the Low Rent Housing Project. Motion carried.

7. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Shepherd that the Water and Sewer Extension bids be awarded
as follows:
Buddy Warren (Water Line Extensions) X148,873.25
John G. Holland (Sewer Line Extensions) 108,786.75
Couch Construction Company 13,170.00
$270,830.00
Motion carried.

8. A mottos was madeby Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by
Commissioner Compton that the City Engineer and City Atforney
be authorized fo preceed with steps necessary to acquire
an air easment on N. W. runway, and that an appraiser
be employeed at a cost not to exceed X100.00. Mottos
carried.

9. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs that H. B. Kenyon be authorized to move a house from
the Community Church property to a Location directly across
First Sfreet. Motion carried.

10. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, and seconded by
Commissioner Stabs that the Director of Public Works be
authorized to hire school boys in the afternoons and on
Saturday to cCean up the roadways in town. Mottos carried.
