MEMBERS OF TI-!E COMM/SS/ON PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners
harles D. Boyle, Lois J. Compton, W. A. Stabs, and Russell Shepherd.
MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON ABSENT: None
OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox Askins, City Engineer H.
Carlos Smith, and City Clerk Martlyn Kelley.
PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer.

1. Mayor Pfeiffer stated that the meeting had been called to discuss
the Water Distribution Systems Bond Project.
The City Attorney advised the Commission that the Buddy Warren
Company, Inc. did abandon the job and were given the ten day
notice as required by Caw. They made no response. He further
advised that on July 23rd the United States Fidelity and Guaranty
Company were notffied.
Mr. James G. Sargent, representing the bonding company, stated that
his company are in the process of securing bids for the completion
of the project. He further stated that they would let the bid
subject to the approval of the City.
The City Attorney recommended that the City extend the time until
Monday, August 15, 1966.

2. Mrs. A. R. Smith, representing her father R. L. Stinson, 301 So.
Holmes, requested that the City re-route the new sewer line on "B"
Street in order to eliminate the loss of several trees.
After considerable discussion, Commissioner Boyle made a motion,
seconded by Commissioner Stabs that the Cine be angled to the center
of the street and continued down the center. Commissioners Boyle
and Stabs voted "yes", with Commissioners Compton, and Shepherd and
Mayor Pfeiffer noting "no".
The Commission advised Mrs. 6mith that the contractor will move
the frees for the party.

3. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs and carried that John G. Holland be allowed an extension
of time for the following days lost due to rain:
April 20, 22, 23, 25
May 5
June 14, 17, 18.

4. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, and seconded by
Commissioner Shepherd that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized
to execute a Lein release for Randell Johnson, Lots 23, 24 Block
69 Bayfront. Motion carried.

5. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs
that a letter be written to the State Highway Department approving
the use of West "D" Street by the Texas Highway Department to
enlarge, deepen and otherewise improve the existing drainage
ditch for drainage of new State Highway 146 from 10th Street to Little
Cedar Bayor. Motion carried.

6. The Commission authorized that a series of Collection letters be
prepared and mailed to persons with delinquent accounts.

7. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Compton that Estimate #{2 for John G. Holland, in the amount of
X10,672.20, be approved for payment. Motion carried.

8. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs that Guree Hawkins be authorized to attend the Southwest
Regional Short School, August 21 thru 24, in Beaumont. Motion
carried.

9. The City Engineer advised the Commission that the street paving bids
were high, and all the work cannot be done wtth the available money.
Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner aoyle
and carried that all bids on the paving and Strom sewer work be
rejected. Motion carried.
