OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox W. Askins, City
Engineer H. Carlos Smith, Chief of Police N. F. Freeman, and
City Clerk Marilyn Kelley.

1. Minutes of the regular meeting of September 7, 1966 were approved
as written.
Minutes of the special meeting of September 12, 1966 were amended
to read:
Item #2 - Add - "The following bids for the construction of the
•
sanitary sewer lines to the Community Center, Library and
Block 43, Bayfromt, were received:
C. C. Construction Company X2,427.10
B. R. Herrington 3,500.00
Joe Collins Construction Co. 3,839.10

2. The City Clerk was instructed to make a survey of other Cities
and determine their policies on water bill adjustments.

3. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs,
and carried that the following employees be given pay adjustments
from $1.59 to .1.69 per hour:
Arister Brooks
Otto Vargas, Jr.
Raymond E. Dabney
Sam S. Saporito

4. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton and seconded by Commissioner
Stabs that Estimate #3 from John G. Holland, in the amount of
$3,863.16, be approved for payment. Motion carried.

5. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Compton and carried that the following accounts payable be
approved:
Eugene Hovey C.P.A. $1,350.00
Eugene Hovey A. P. A. 225.00
Del Chemical Company 145.99
T. E. Brown 183.67
Guff Oil Corporation 124.39
Minnesota Mining 809.00

6. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs and seconded by Commissioner
Boyle that the purchase of a camera from Skylark Camera Company,
X261.58, be approved. Motion carried.

7. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs
that the City Engineer be authorized to prepare a cost estimate
for replacing the water line in the alley or, the north side of
Main Street. Motion carried.

8. Commissioner Stabs presented an estimate for repairing the old
building. Action was tabled until the Commission has an
opportunity to examine the building.

9. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs and seconded by Commissioner
Compton, that the City Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids
on two patrol cars to be received at 4:30 P. M., October 6, in the
office of fhe City Clerk. Motion carried.

10. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton
that the City Engineer be authorized to prepare plans and specfftca-
tions for the construcfion of water and sewer lines in Block 180,
Town of La Porte. Further that the City Clerk be authorized to
advertise for bids to be received at4:00 P.M., October 12, ?966,
in the office of the City Clerk.

77. The City Attorney advised the Commission that he has examined a
certified copy of the deed to the Colored Community Cemetery,
Block 685, Town of La Porte, and found it to be in order. He
made the following recommendations:
That the City Clerk be authorized to take steps necessary
for the closing of the alley in Block 685.
Thaf a survey be made of the block and a plat of grave
sites be prepared, at City expense.
That the Association be requested to remove the bodies
from the street right-a-way, without City participation.
Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Compton that the city Engineer be authorized to make a survey
and set permanent corner monuments, and that the City Attorney
be authorized to assist with any legal work involved. Motion
carried.

72. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner
Compton and carried That steps be taken to close the alley in
Block 685, Town of La Porte, and that the normal fees be waived.

93. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle
that the City Engineer be authorized to acquire an easement for water
and sewer Cines in Block 66, Bayfront. Motion Carried.
