MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING

1. Minutes of the regular meeting of September 19, 1966, and the
special meeting of September 26, 1966 were appro ved as written.

2. A motion was made by CommissionerCompton, seconded by Commissioner
Boyle and carried that Resolution No. 66-58 he approved on first
and final reading:

A RESOLUTION FINDING AND DECLARING THAT THERE EX/STS A NEED FOR
THE HOUSING SUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS TO FUNCTION.

3. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle
that the Fire Chief be authorized to advertise for bids on a new
fire truck and/or chassis, bids to be received on November 21, 1966,
specifications to be picked up at the City HaIC. Motion carried.

4. The Cify Engineer was requested to prepare setimates of the cost
of paving and report to the Commission at the next meeting.

5. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle
and carried that Ordinance No. 754 be approved on first and final
reading,

AN ORDINANCE CREATING A DEPARTMENT OF VITAL STATISTICS; APPOINTING
THE CITY CLERK LOCAL REGISTRAR; AND PROVIDING THAT EACfI BIRTH, DEATH,
AND STILLBIRTH WITHIN THE CITY SHALL BE RECORDED; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.

6. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton and seconded by Commissioner
Boyle that a fee of $1.50 per certified copy of birth certificates
and death certificates be charged. Motion carried.

7. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs,
that ftnal payment in the amount of X375.00 to Curtis D. Kelley,
be approved. Motion carried.

8. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton that a fee of X10.00 per
session for renting the new Community Center be charges.

9. The City Engineer was authorized to make a study of the parking
facilities meeds at the new Library and Civic Center.

10. ConTntssioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton
that the City Clerk be authorized to secure quotations and purchase
100 foldtng chairs and three storage carts for the Civic Center.
Motion carried.

11. The City Engineer presented cost estimates for replacing the water
Line in the alley north of Main Street from 1st to 6th Streets. (See
Exhibit No. 1). The Engineer was advised to advertise for btds.

12. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton
That the Engineer be authorized to advertise for bids on 5,000 LF
3" AC Pipe, bids to be received at 4:00 P. M., October 24, 1966.

13. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Commissioner
Boyle, that the City Engineer be authorized to attend the Texas
Surveyors Association Convention, October 6, 7, and 8 in Houston.
Motion carried.

.~ 14. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs,
that the City host the October 17th meeting of the Gulf Area Water
and Waste Water Association. Motion carried.

15. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner
Compton and carried that the following accounts payable be approved:

16. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyce,
and carried that the following purchases be approved:
National Chemsearch - Weed Killer ,396.00
Utility Supply Company - Pipe 129.10
Rockwell Meter Company - 2" Meter 202.53

17. The following bids for weed cutting were recetved:

Commissioner Stabs amde a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton
that the bid be awarded to the low man, W. L. Brown, Motion carried.

18. The following bids for sign blanks and posts were received:

Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs,
that the material be purchased from Municipal Street Sign Co., Inc.

~. 79. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs,
that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to exec cite a Quick Claim
to abandon the alley in Block 82, Town of La Porte. Motion carried.

20. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs, and carried, that the foLCowing water bill adjustment poCicy
be adopted: (See Exhibit No. 2).
