• MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING OF THE LA FORTE C l TY CO/~1 / SS / ON, LA PORTS, TEXAS March 6, 9967 7 : Ov P. M. MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners W. A. Stabs, Jr., Lois J. Compton, Russell Shepherd, and Charles D. Boyce. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, City Attorney Knox W. Ask ins, City Clerk Marilyn Kelley, and Chief of Police N. F. Freeman. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 9. Minutes of the regular meeting of February 20, 9967, and the special meeting of February 27, ?967, were approved as written. + + + 2. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the Commission ratify the appointment of the Library Board, according to the terms set forth in their by-laws and reappoint Mrs. Carol Smith and Mrs. Audry White, subject to their acceptance. Further, that it be recommended that a member retire from the Board for at least one year before geing reappointed. Mutton carried. + + + 3. A mutton was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd and carried, that Ordinance No. 759 be passed on first and final reading: CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A POLICY ON dVATER AND SEWER LINE EXTENSIONS; ESTABLISHING CONNECTION FEES AND INSPECTION FEES FOR PROPERTY HEREAFTER CONNECTED TO 4bATER AND SEWER MAINS; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 383; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. + + + 4. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton that the Certificate of Acceptance and the Engineer's Completion Certificate for the Sewer Extension Project, be approved. Motion carried. + + + 7. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that John Holland Construction Company Estimate No. 7 (Final) in the amount of .94,363.39, be approved for payment. Motion carried. + + + • • g~ A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd and seconded by Commissioner Compton that the construction of a concession sfand at the swimming pooC be approved. Approx. ,700. Motion carried. + + t 9. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that the Director of Public Works be authorized to purchase five mercury vapor lights. Motion carried. + + + 10. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, and seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that the City Clerk be authorised to take steps necessary to up-dating the office procedures. Motion carried. + + + 11. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that the Director of Public Works be authorized to purchase one 2" water meter, two 6" fire hydrants, and 6" pipe. Motioncarried. + + + 13. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, and seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that Albert Langston Woodring be given a Police Reserve Commission. Motion carried. + + + 14. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that H. Carlos Smith, and Charles ©. Boy 1e be authorized to attend the Solid 'Nastes Seminar, M,anc~ 7, 1967. A mutton was made by Commissioner Compton, and seconded by Commissioner Boyce, that the Director of Public Works be authorized to purchase 7/2 car of 3/8 crushed stone, and 7 7/2 cars of 3/4 crushed stone. Motion carried. + + + 76. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyce, that the Street Department be authorized to hire a temporary man to assist with the sealing of the joints on the concrete streets.
