Pfeiffer, Commissioners Charles O. Boyle, Lois J. Compton, W. A. Stabs, Jr., and Russell Shepherd. MEMBERS OF THE COhdMISS/ON ABSENT: None OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, City Attorney Knox W. Askins, Fire Chief H. Gould Crofoot, and City Clerk Marilyn Kelley. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 1. Minutes of the regular meefing of March 2Ci, 1967 were amended as follows: Item No. 6 - To Read - "A motton was made by Commisstoner Shepherd and seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that Marilyn Kelley be authorized to attend Finance Officers School, Aprii 23, 24, 25, in Austin. Motion carried. + + + 2. Mr. T©mmy Simpson, Vice-President of Art Simpson Funeral Home, Inc., presented a letter of notice that they will discontinue their ambulance service as of midnight, May 9, 1967. (See Exhibit No. 1). He further stated that the funeral home will give to the City their 1965 International Ambulance and their 1966 Oldsmobile ambulance, provided the City will assume the outstanding bank note of $2,700.00, due against ft. Mayor Pfeiffer thanked Mr. Simpson for the fine presentation, and promised him that the City would make every effort to arrive at a solution to the ambulance problem. + + + 3. Mr. Frank R. Boyle, Sr. presented a tatter regarding the Old Library building, and stated that it seemed that the transaction is out of focus. (See Exhibit No. 2). The City Attorney stated that the City relied upon a letter received on December 19, 9966, and on the strength of same, so acted. • • Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that fhe City receive bids for the sale of the Old Library building, at 7;00 P.t~., May ?, ?967. Further that the City reserve the right to reject any or ail bids. Motion carried. + + + 4. Mr, Robert Stephens reported that it was not going to be as difficult as he had thought, for the City to provide extended non-owned insurance coverage for the employees. Qnly eight employees do not have liability insurance at this time. Mr. Stephens was instructed to contact these employees and work out a solution. + + + 5. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, and carried that Resolution No. 67- be passed on first tnd final reading. (See Exhibit No. 3). A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Commissioner Stabs and carried, that the Mayor be authorized to execute the John Kraak contract as attached. (See Exhibit No. 4). + + + 7. The City Attorney stated that Lots 2?, 22, 23, 24, Block ?9, Town of La Forte were erroneously included in a ?923 Tax Suit and he recommended that that the City issue a Quit Claim Deed on same. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that a Quit Claim Deed be approved. Motion carried. + + + 8. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner Boyle that Swfmming Pool Supply and Service, /nc, be authorized to clean the swimming pool and restore it to its original condition, cost not to exceed ;.200.00 to X250.00. Motion carried. + + + 9. Commmissioner Boyle made a mottos, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd, that Bayshore Air Conditioning be authorized to convert a refrigerator to an incubator, to be used in the -~'ater and Sewer Lab. Motion carried. (Cost ,~?75.00). + + + • 10. A motion was made by CommissionerShepherd, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that the purchase of approximately X200.00 in materials to be used at the Little League Bait Park, be authori,~ed. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton, and carried, that the following persons be appointed to the Neighborhood Centers Building and Grounds Comntttee: Mrs. A. B. Crate Mr. Ben Odell Mrs. Curtis Ethridge + + + 13. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, and carried, that Ordinance No. 762 be passed on first and final reading. CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD 1N THE CITY OF LA PORTS ON APRIL 1, 1967, ON THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THE CITY SHALL ENTER INTO A COOPE.nATlON AGREEMENT ~'J1TH THE C1TY~S PUBLIC HOUSING AUTHORITY. + + + 14. A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by Commissioner Boyle and carried, that the following accounts payable be ap,croved: Southwestern Refuse Sacks ,930.00 Wholesale Electric Supply 254.80 Gulf Coast EZectric Supply 945.00 Mustang Tractor Company 9.441.95 + + + 98. The City Atforney gave a detailed report of the facts concerning ambulance problems. Commissioner Stabs stated thaf after considerable study on his part, that he recommends that take bids for private ambulance service and also for the purchase of a station wagon. A motion wczs made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner Compton that the City receive bids at 7:00 P.M., April 97, 9967, for a contract agreement for private ambulance service, the City reserving the right to reject any or aZl bids. Motion carried. Commissioner Stairs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that bids for the purchase of a 9967 Station Wagon, 4 Door, be received at 7:00 P. M., Aprit 97, 9967. Motion carried. + + + 99. A special meeting was called for 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 5, to meet with the Cities of Lomax, Morgan's Point, and Shoreacres, to further discuss the ambulance problems. The City Clerk was instructed to contact the other Cities. + + + 20. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs that the purchase of 300' of 9 9/2" fire hose and 200' of 2 9/2" fire hose be authorized. Motion carried. + + + 29. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd that the purchase of a 44" Case lawn mower be authorized. Cost - X825.00.
