P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners W. A. Stabs, Jr., Lois J. Compton, Russell Shepherd, Charles D. Boyle and Commissioner Elect Bobby J. Burgin. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox W. Ask ins, City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, and City Clerk Marilyn Kelley. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. t + + 9. Minutes of the regular meeting of April 97, 9967 and the special meeting of April 99, 9967, and April 24, 9967, were approved as written. + + + 2. Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, and carried, that Ordinance No. 767 be passed on first and final reading. CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESUL TS CF THE REGULAR ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA POP,TE ON APRIL 25, 9967, FO.R THE ELECTION OF A CITY COMMISSIONER POSITICN 9, AND A CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 3. + + + 3. City Attorney, Knox W. Askins, administered the Oath of Office to Mrs. Lois J. Compton, Position No. 9, and Bobby J. Burgin, Position No. 3. Mayor Pfeiffer presented rettring Commissioner Russell Shepherd with a Certificate of Appreciation for the four years he has served as Commissioner. + + + 4. h;r. H. L. Hughes and Mr. Ignacio Rodriguez, representing the St. Mary's Catholic Church, requested that Leone, Candace and Oltve Streets, and the alleys in Blocks 33, 34, 36, 37, be closed. Mayor Pfeiffer advised that a written request, along with the required fee be filed with the City Clerk. + + + • 5. Bids for the purchase of the old Library Building, were received from the following: La Porte Communtty Church ~ 9.00 E. A. Thomas 27.50 Mr. Thomas stated, that since the Church has need of the building, he would like to withdraw his bid. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, and seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the Commission accept the La Porte Community Church bid of X9.00. Motion carried. + + + 6. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, and carried, that Ordinance No. 768 be passed on first and final reading. White be appointed to fill the City of La Porte's position on the College View Wafer District Board. Motion carried. + + + 8. Commissioner StaLs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton, and carried, that the following tentative ambulance rates be adopted: Baytown and Pasadena ~p25.00 Houston and Galveston 35.00 Within the City 90.00 After first 15 minutes waiting 5.00 each 3C minutes. Oxygen 5• ~ Calls originating outside City 10.00 extra Rate 1 1/2 times if two persons are carried. (Charge to be divided equally.) + + + 9. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, and seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the City enter into a one year contract with D. L. Robinson, to sweep ail the concrete streets, curb and gutters, once every two weeks, .190.67 per month. Either party may cancel the contract, upon 30 days writter, notice. Motion carried. + + + 10. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs and carried, that the following accounts payable be approved: B. F. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Com- missioner Burgin, and carried, that the following purchases be approved: Texas Crushed Stone - 200T Crushed Stone Mustang Tractor Company - Repairs to 933 Cat Pruitt Growing - 128' 36" Concrete Pipe + + + 12. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that the following Swimming Pool rates be adopted. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Comnissio.,er Compton, and carried, that the City Engineer be authorized to advertise for bids for topping of the following streets: • • Double Surface 5th Street - Main to Madison Carron Street - 700 Block Sea l Coa t 5th Street - Madison to Crestlane Madison - 5th Street to 6th Street Bids will be received at 7:00 P.i~~., June 5, 1967.
