Pfeiffer, Commissioners Lois J. Compton, Charles D. Boyle, and Bobby J. Burgin. MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON ABSENT: W. A. Stabs, Jr. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox W. Askins, City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, City Clerk Marilyn Keiiey, and Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, Jr. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 9. Minutes of the regular meeting of June 5, 9967, and the special meeting of June 92, 9967, were approved as written. + + + 2. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Burgin, that the hiring of seven summer employees at .9.47 per hour, be ratified. Motion carried. + + + 3. The City Engineer presented a tabulation of Asphalt Street Surfacing bids, received on June 5, 9967. (See Exhibit No. 9). Commissioner Burgin made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boy 1e, that the bid be given to the low bidder Brown and Root. Motion carried. + + + 4. The City Engineer presented a letter from Batterson Distributing Company regarding the striping of the Airport runways. (See Exhibit No. 2). A motion was made by Commisstoner Boyle, and seconded by Commissioner Burgin, that the specifications be changed from Type 9 Reflectorized Granules to Type 2 Glass Spheres, and that the increase from 9.0~ per square foot to 99.4 per square foot be approved. Motion carried. + + + • 5. Commtsstoner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commtsstoner Burgin, and carried, that the following accounts payable be approved: Gulf States Asphalt ~ 609.63 Rtchard E. Broome 343.29 Knox W. Askins 266.90 Motorola Communications 9,035.95 Motorola Communications 2,335.29 + + + 6. Bids for a Float and Cable Flow Recorder were received from the following: Fischer and Porter X598.00 Foxboro 545.00 The Ctty Engineer recommended that the recorder be purchased from Foxboro. Commtsstoner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Burgin, that the recorder be purchased from low bidder, Foxboro, for ,545.00 F.O.B. Factory. Motion carried. ,~ + + + 7. Commtsstoner Burgin requested that the City Clerk prepare and distribute the Commission Meeting minutes, as soon as possible, following a meeting. + + + 8. The following bads for the construction of cabinets at the Lab Building, were received: La Porte Lumber Company Cabinets-Southwest Wall $697.00 -Southeast Wall 398.00 La Porte Construction Company Cabinees-Southwest Wall .690.00 -Southeast V/all 390.00 The City Engineer recommended that the cabinets be authorized, with the Southwest section, ,690.00, coming from the oid budget, and the Southest section, X390.00, coming from the new budget. Corrmisstoner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Burgin, that the Zow bidder, La Porte Construction Company, be authorized to construct both sets of cabinets of the same time.
