Pfeiffer, Commissioners W. A. Stabs, Jr., Bobby J. Burgin, W. A. Stabs, Jr., and Lois J. Compton. MEMBERS OF THE COMti1/SS/ON ABSENT: None OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Clerk Marilyn Ke11ey, City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, Superintendent of Streets Clifford Ellis, and City Attorney Knox W. Askins. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + ~. The minutes of the regular meeting of September 99, 9967, were approved as written. + + + 2. Eugene Novey, C.P.A., presented the 9966-67 Audit Report. The Commission received the report, and requested that they be allowed to review the report and discuss it to detail with Mr. Hovey. + + + 3. Commissioner Burgin recommended that the Motor Grader be purchased from the Mustang Tractor Company. A motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, and seconded by Commtsstoner Boyle, that the City purchase a Caterpillar, Model 92F, from Mustang Tractor Company, $22,700.00. Motion canted. + + + 4. Attorney C. L. Pitman presented an oral proposal for Mr. George Lunday to provtde transfer ambulance service for La Porte. Mr. Lunday requested that the City subsidies him $900.00 per month for this service. Commissioner Stabs recommended that the Commission study the proposal. + + + • • 5. Commissioner Boyle made a recommendation, that the contract for painting the water tower, be given to the low bidder, Roberts Brothers, Inc, X5,244.00. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the contract be let to Roberts Brothers, Inc., .5,244.00. Motion carried. + + + 6. A motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, seconded by Commissioner Compton, and carried, that the followtng accounts payable be approved: John Bean Corporation $17,895.00 3 M company 299.00 3 M Company 299.00 Jay Marks Chevrolet Co. 225.63 + + + 7. Commissioner Boyle made a motton, seconded by Commissioner Compton, that the purchase of drafting cabinets, from L. L. Ridgway Company, X252.75, be approved. Motion carried. + + + 8. Commissioner Burgin made a motton, seconded by Commissioner Compton, and carried, that Ordinance No. 773 be passed on ftrst and final reading. CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS, CLOSING THE HEARING GIVEN TO THE REAL AND TRUE OWNERS OF THE PROPERTY ABUTTING UPON NORTH 7TH STREET AND SUNDRY OTHER STREETS AND AVENUES, WITHIN THE LIMITS HEREINBELOW DEFI".'ED, IN THE CITY OF LA POR TE, TEXAS, AS TO SPECIAL BENEFITS TO ACCRUE BY VIRTUE OF THE IMPROVEMENT THEREOF, AND AS TO THE ACCURACY, SUFFICIENCY, REGULARITY AND VAL.'~ITY OF THE PROCEEDINGS AND CONTRACT IN CONNECTION WITH SAID IMPROVEMENTS, AND THE ASSESSMENTS TO BE LEVIED COVERING THE COST THEREOF; OVERRULING AND DENYING ALL PROTESTS AND OBJECTIONS OFFERED; EXCEPT AS TO THE ADJUSTMENTS HEREINBELOW MADE; FINDING THAT lT lS IMPRACTICAL TO PROCEED WITH THE IMPROVEMENT OF CERTAIN OF SAID STREETS HEREINBELObY' DESCRIBED AND AEANDONING THE IMPROVEMENT THEREOF AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TG FILE A CERTAIN NOTICE OF SUCH ABANDONMENT; FINDING AND DETERMINING SPECIAL BENEFITS TO EACH PARCEL OF PROPERTY AND THE OWNERS THEREOF, EOUAL TO OR IN EXCESS OF THE AMOUNT OF THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT AS HEREIN ADJUSTED ANU ASSESSED AGAINST SAME; FINDING THE REGULARITY OF ALL PROCEEDINGS AND THE PERFORMANCE OF ALL PREREx'UISITES TO FIXING THE ASSESSMENT LIENS AND THE PERSONAL LIABILITY OF THE PROPERTY OWNERS; LEVYING ASSESSMENTS, FIXING CHARGES AND LIENS AGA/NST SAID PROPERTY ABUTTING SAID STREETS • • AND UNITS AND THE TRUE OWNERS THEREOF FOR PAYMENT OF PART OF THE COSTS OF THE lM'PROVEMENTS; PRGV/DING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF ASSIGNABLE ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATES AND THE MANNER OF THEIR COLLECTION; PROVIDING F0,4 OTHER MATTERS RELATING TO THE FOREGOING; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. + + + 9. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton, that bids be taken on October 23, 9967, for the purchase of two new or used Handi Talktes.
