Pfeiffer, Commissioners Lois J. Compton, W. A. Stabs, Jr., and Charles D. Boyle. MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON ABSENT: Commissioner Bobby J. Burgin. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Clerk Marilyn Kelley, City ngineer N. Carlos Smith, City Attorney Knox W. Askins, Chief of Police N. F. Freeman, and Superintendent of Streets Clifford E1lts. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 1. The minutes of the regular meeting of September 98, 9967, were corrected as follows: MEMBERS ~ THE COM,MJS_;ION PRESENT: to read - "Mayor N. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners Bois J. Compton, W. A. Stabs, Jr., Charles D. Boyle, and Bobby J. Burgin. Item No. 4 - to read - "Attorney C. L. Pitman presented an oral proposal for Mr. George Lunday to provide transfer ambulance service for La Forte. Mr. Lunday requested that the City substdize him $900.00 per month for this service." The minutes of the special meeting of September 25, 9967, were approved as written. + + + 2. A lenghty disc ussion concerning Mr. George Lunday's request for $900.00 a month subsidy fvr transfer ambulance service was held. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the request be turned down at this time. Motion carried. + + + • i 3. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, and seconded by Commissioner Compton, that a franchise be issued to C. J. Raines and Willard D. Fence, for the La Porte Taxi Service. Motion Carried. + + + 4. The City Engineer recommended that due to the short bidding period, the truck bids be returned unopened, and that the bids be received again on October 23, 9967. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the bids be returned, and that bids be received at 7:00 P.M., October 23, 9967. + + + 5. Mayor Pfeiffer recommended thatthe Commission consider the hiring of Mr. Hugh Landrum for tax appraisal work. The Commission requested that a meeting with Mr. Landrum be scheduled. + + + 6. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that the Commission ratify the City Attorney's actton in obtaining a street paving escrow agreement from Nappy Harbor Methodist Home. Motion carried. + + + 7. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner Compton, and carried, that Ordinance No. 775 be passed on first and final reading. CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND .CLOSING A PORTION OF BAYSHORE DRIVE, IN BAYSHORE PARK SUBDIVISiGN, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS. + + + 8. Commissioner Compton made a mottos, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that the Mayor and City Cierk be authorized to sign a power line easment for Houston Lighting and Power Company, upon receiving approval from F.A.A. Motion carried. t + + • [~ • • 9. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that Eugene Hovey, C.P .A. be employed for the year 9967-68. Motion carried. + + + 90. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton, that the 9966-67 Audit be accepted. and that a public notice be published. Motion carried. (See Exhibit No. 9) + + + 99. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Commissioner Boyce, that B & 8 Maintenance Company be employed to maintain the City Hail, Library, and Civtc Center. Motion carried. (See Exhibit No. 2). + + + 92. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, s econded by Commissioner Compton, and carried, that the following p urchased be approved: Paui's Garage ~ 905.08 Gamon Meter Company 430.20 Sharp Grain Company 997.45 Mabry Foundry Company (Bond) 9,769.00 W. S. Dtckey 860.69 + + + 94. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that the purchase of 95 Monitor Radios for the Fire Department and one for the Service Center be approved. Motion carried. + + + i 95. A motion eras made by Commissioner Boyle, and seconded by Commissioner Compton, that the Director of Public VVorks be authorized to employ a temprary man, for a period of two weeks, at .9.75 per hour. Motion carried. + + + 96. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Stabs, that the City Engineer be authorized to preceed with the plans for construction of the "C" Street Water Line and the Blackwell Street Sewer Line. Motion carried. + + + 97. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, and seconded by Corra~nisstoner Boyle, that a street light be placed on "H" Street, near Outlot 487. Motion carried. + + + 98. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Cor,;missioner Boyle, that F. B. Reynolds be given a .25.00 a month salary increase, as of October 9, 9967.
