MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING

1. The minutes of the regular meeting of February 19, 9968, and
the special meeting of February 26, 1968, were approved as
written.

2. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs, that Mrs. R. C. Rogers and Mr. Archie Pinkney be
appointed to the Library Board, for three year terms. Motion
carried.

3. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner
Burgin, and carried, that Resolution No. 68-65 be passed on first
and final reading.

OF THE UNTIED STATES HOUSING ACT OF 1937, AS AMENDED, TO THE CITY
OF LA PORTS.

4. Chief Freeman stated that he has inspected the equipment to be
used by Bayshore Ambulance Service, and found it to be in order.
(See Exhibit No. 1). The City Clerk advised the Commission that
Mr. Lunday does have insurance and licenses for his operation.
Commissioner Stabs made a motion, s?conded by Commissioner Boyle,
that Bayshore Ambulance Service application be approved. Motion
carried.

5. Commissioner Compton recommended that the La Porte Neighborhood
Centers be authorized to afminister the activities held in the
City facilities Zocated on Block 81, Town of La Porte. She
further recommended that the ,25.00 contribution to North Side
Civic Center be discontinued, and that the contribution to the
La Porte Civic Center be increased from X50.00 to X75.00.
Commissioner Compton so moved, Commissioner Boyle seconded and
the motion carried.

6. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Commissioner
Burgin, and carried, that Low bidder E. P. Brantley, be authorized
to build a 40X90' combination court on Block 81, Town of La Porte.
Motion carried.

7. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs, that Mayor Pfeiffer be authorized to secure btds for
the cost of repairing the Zights on the baseball fields dtrectiy
behind the Swimming Pool, and to contact the School Board for
assistance in the cost of repairing the Zights. Motion carried.

8. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, and seconded by Commissioner
Boyce, that the Mayor be authorized to request that the State Highway
Department place a traffic ltght at the intersection of "G" Street
and Highway 146. Motion carried.

9. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Burgin,
and carried, thatthe following purchases be approved.

10. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs, and carried, that the following accounts payable be
approved:

11. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Compton, that the City Clerk be authorized to pay Kiibler
and Kiibler statement for X2,300.00, covering a period
from December 1, 1966 through February 26, 1968. Motion
carried.

12. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, and seconded by
Commissioner Boyle, that the purchase of one General Electric
radio, $502.20 be authorized. Motion carried.

13. Ccmmissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs, that the Director of Finance be authorized to
re-invest the Social Security Fund,.~8,100.00 in to Certificates
at 5 1/4%. Motion carried.

14. The City Engtneer stated that the City broke Mr. Boots Ayo's
sanitary sewer line while working in that area, and recommended
that the City pay a $27.00 bill to Reeder Plumbing Company for
repairing said line. Motion carried. (See Exhibit No. 2)

15. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, and seconded by Commissioner
Stabs, that C. W. DuBose be extended to install water and sewer
lines in Block 86, Bayf~ont. Motion carried.

96. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs, that the City Engineer be authorized to purchase the
wire for the airport lighting from the low bidder, Airport
Lighting Cor,~pany. Motion carried.

97. The City Attorney advised the Commission, that Nir. Joseph
F. Caslin, has ftled a claim against the City for damages
to his automobile. (See Exhibit No. .3).
Commissioner Burgin made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Stabs, that the City pay the X26.25, and secure the proper
releases. Motion carried.

98. The City Clerk stated that Mrs. Runnels is doing an outstanding
job on the IBM work, and recommended that she be given a X95.00,
a month raise, retroactive to the 9st of February.
Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Cor.pton, that Mrs. Mildred Runnels be given a .95.00 a month
raise, retroactive to February 9, 9968. P~9otion carried.

Chevrolet end Ford ambulances belonging to Georgs Lander anal I
find them to be in order . X11 the equipment required by the:
ordinance is present on each of the emergency cars. This
inspection took place Febriary 2g, 1gb8.
