Pfeiffer, Commissioners W. A. Stabs, Lois J. Compton, Charles D. Boyle, Bobby J. Burgin, and Commissioner-Elect H. Gould Crofoot. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None OTHER CITY OFF/C/ALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox W. As~cins, City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, City Clerk Martiyn Kelley, Chief of Poltce N. F. Freeman. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 9. The minutes of the regular meeting of April 95, 9965, and the special meeting of April 24, 9968, were approved as written. + + + 2. Judge George Counts administered the Oath of Office to Mayor- Elect H. P. Pfeiffer, and Commissioners- Elect Charles D. Boyle, and N. Gould Crofoot. Mayor Pfeiffer presented to W, A. Stabs, Jr. a Certificate of Appreciation for the eight years of service he has given as a Commissioner. + + + 3. Mr. Leo Gaber, 333 South Bayshore Drive, inquired about the condition of his driveway, a water leak in the alley beside hfs home, and the dttch on Bayshore Drive. The City Engineer was requested to check into the items mentioned. + + + 4. A tabulation of bids for the parking area, driveways, and sidewalks at the Library and Civic Center, were received. (See Exhibit No. 9). Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Crofoot, that Division 9 be awarded to the low bidder, Les West Co., lr~c., and that Division 99 be awarded after the 9968-69 budget has been adopted. Horn, and that Mr. Horn is requestina a franchise to operate to the City of La Porte. (See Exhibits 2 and 3). Commissioner Burgin made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that a Taxi franchise be issued to ~~r. 8. F. Horn. Motion carried. + + + 7. Commissioner Compton made a mottos, seconded by Commissioner Crofoot, that Ordinance No. 780-A be passed on first and final reading. A motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, and seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that payment of Estimate No. 3, Guif Bitulithic Company, .80,080.74, be ratified. Motion carried. + + + 11. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Burgin, that ordinance No. 786 be passed on first anal final reading. A motion was made by Conrnissioner Boyle, and seconded by Commissioner Burgin, that the purchase of one 3" fire hydrant meter from Rockwell Meter Company, be approved. 0302.62) Motion carried. + + + 15. The Director of Public Works recommended that the City charge a $50.00 deposit, plus a X10.00 installation charge, for the installation of a meter on a fire hydrant. Motion carried. Commissioner Boyle, so moved, Comissioner Compton seconded, and carried. + + + 16. Commissioner Boyle, made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Compton, that the payment of W. C. DuBose, Estimate No. 5, X2,535.16, be approved. Motion carried. t + + 17. A motion was made by Commtsstone,~ Crofoot, seconded by Commissioner Compton, and carried, that Leslie Gordon Smith be given a Reserve Police Officer commission. /~.'otion carried. + + + • • f .~ 98. Commissioner Crofoot requested that he be authorized to purchase two radios. Permission was granted, if funds are available. + + + 99. The City Attorney recommended that the Commission include in the 9968-69 Budget funds to cover the Codefication of Ordinances. + + + 20. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, and seconded by Commissioner Crofoot, that the Utility Easement on Lot 92, Oak Grove Block, Bayshore Park Subdivision, and 50' X 900' Tract East of Lot 92, La Porte be approved.
