1. The minutes of the regular meetingof May 6, 1968 were amended to
read:
Item No. 3 -"The City Engineer and Street Commissioner were requested
to check into the items mentioned.".
Item No. 18 - "Commissioner Corfoot was requested to check for avaiZahle
funds. "

2. Bids were received for the purchase of Lot 1, Block 186, Town of
La Porte.
Mr. ~Villard A. Long submitted a bid of .1;)0.00 for the purchase of
said lot.
Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Crofoot
that the lot be sold to the only bidder, Willard A. Long for ,100.00.
Motion carried.

3. Dolphus Merritt stated that he is being charged X3.00 for a load
of waste materials and has previously paid only ,1.00.
The City Engineer stated that the size truck Mr. Merritt has with
the sideboards is a X3.00 load and that he was charged X1.00 in error.
Mr. Merritt was given permission to dump for x'1.00 until June 3, 1968,
at which time the charge will be X3.00, and further that he pay ~S.OU
as week beginning June 1, 1968, against his old account.

4. Commissioner Crofoot made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Compton, that the Ctty Attorney be authorized to prepare a
~~arrant Fee Ordinance. Moticn carried.

5. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Commissioner
Crofoot and carried, that Ordinance No. 788 be passed on first and
final reading.

6. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Burgin,
and carried, that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign the
West Construction Company contracts for the paving of the driveways,
walks and parking area at the Library and Civic Center.

7. A request for the construction of a water line to the Jack Lawler
property was presented. (See Exhibits 9 & 2). Action was tabled.

8. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner
~rofoot and carried, that a water Zine along West "F" Street to
the alley in Block 939, Town of La Porte, be authorized. Approx.
cost .2,900.00. Motion carried.

9. The City Engine<r presented quotations for the cost of stone and
shell, to be used in replacing approaches to the newly paved streets.
(wee Exhibit No. 3). Ne recommended that the City use stone.
A motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, and seconded by Commissioner
Boyle, that the stone be purchased from Contractors Materials
Compayy, for 2.82?Ton. Motion carried.

90. Gulf Bitulithic Company Change Order No. 3 was tabled until
Commissioner Burgin has had an opportunity to study same.

99. Gulf Butlithic Company Estimate No. 4, X69,825.42, was tabled until
Commissioner Burgin has had an opportunity to study same, and can
contact each Commissioner for permission to pay same.

92. ~'ommissioner Burgin made a motion, ~conded by Conmissioner
Crofoot and card ed, that the foll owing employees be given
sclary increases:
Sam Saporito From x$9.95 To x`2.05
Jessie Garcia From 2.30 To 2.40
David Garcia From 9.75 To 9.85
Raymond Dabney From 9.95 To 2.05

93. A motion was made by Commissioner Crofoot and seconded by
CommissionerP,oyle, that Andy Liska be appointed as Assistant
Ftre Marshall. Motion carried.

74. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Burgin, and carried, that the following accounts payable be
approved:
Mabry Foundry Company X940.95
Knox Y'/. Askins

95. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by Commissioner
Crofoot and carried, that the following purchases be approved:
Humble Gil Company - MC9 Oil X5,820.00
White Supply Company - Pjpe 202.90
Coastal Road Boring 923.75

96. Commissioner Crofoot made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Compton, that the purchase of two radios be approved. Motion
Carried.

97. A motion was made try Commissioner Crofoot and seconded by
Commissioner Compton, that the City Engineer be autortzed to
purchase twenty five "Stop" signs, and twenty five "Yield"
signs Motion carried.

98. Recommendations were received in regards to the request by
Mrs. Evelyn Kennedy for items for the North Side Civic Center.
(See Exhibit No. 4). Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded
by Commissioner Crofoot, that the recommendations be accepted, with
the exception of 9A. Motion carried.

?9. Commissioner Compton made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Burgin, that UbaZdo Rodriquez be given a salary increase of
ten cents per hour. Motion carried.

20. Quotations for the purchase of a sludge pump were received.
(See Exhibit No. 5).
Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Co~~;missioner
Burgin, that the pump be purchased from Pump and Power Company,
for X840.00. Motion carried.

27. The City Engineer and 4',ater and Sewer Commissioner were requested
to prepare a written policy on the procedures for cutting on and
off water.
