MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LA PORTS CITY COMM/SS/ON, LA PORTS, TEXAS

MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners
Charles D. Boyle, Bobby J. Burgin, H. Gould Crofoot, and Lois
J. Compton.
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None
OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox W. Askins, City Clerk
Marilyn Kelley, Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, and City Engineer
H. Carlos Smith.
PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer.

9. The minutes of the regular meeting of Augusf 5, 9968 were amended
as follows:
Item No. 7 - To read September 9, 9968 instead of September
8, 9968.
/tem No. 98 - To read "M" Street lift station instead of
"H" Street lift station.
/tem No. 9 of the special meeting of August 94, 9968 was amended
to include the name of the bank, La Porte State Bank.

2. Mayor Pfeiffer opened the meeting for the purpose of holding a
hearing on the 9968-69 Budget.
Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Crofoot,
that Ordinance No. 795 be passed on first and final reading.

AN ORDINANCE MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR SUPPORT OF THE GOVERNMENT
OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS, FOR THE F/SCAL YEAR BEGINNING
JULY 9, 9968 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 9969, AND LEVYING A TAX OF x.92
ON EACH ~t900.00 OF ASSESSED VALUE OF ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY
LOCATED WITHIN SAID CITY.

3. A motion was made by Commissioner Compton, seconded by
Commissioner Burgin, and carried, that Ordinance No. 796 be
passed on first and final reading.
CAPTION:
AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF
THE ALLEY, LYING WITHIN BLOCK EIGHTY-SlX (86), BAY FRONT
ADDITION, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS.

4. Commissioner Burgin made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Crofoot that Gulf Bitulithic Company, estimate no. 7 be
approved. 030,048.03). Motion carried.

5. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle and seconded by
Commissioner Burgin, that W. C. Du Bose estimate no. 7,
,2,340.45, be approved. Motion carried.

6. Commissioner Crofoot made a motion, seconded by Corrxnissioner
Boyle, that the purchase of a Phil Wilson Directory, X245.00

be approved. Motion carried.

7. The City Attorney was authorized to purchase a Municipal
Codification of Ordinances for La Porte.

8. A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle and seconded by
Commissioner Burgin, that 4^/. C. Du Bose be authorized to
install sewer lines on Carroll and Lobit, Blocks 7, 25 and
26, at an estimxited cost of X9,800.00. P~^otion carried.

9. Commissioner Boyle recommended and moved that the City purchase
a truck load of 3" pipe from R. E. Kershaw Company at an approximate
cost of .2,400 to $2,500. Motion carried.

90. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Compton, that the City Engineer be authorized to advertise
for bids on asphalt topping of the curb and gutter streets.
Bids will be received at 7:00 P. M., September 23, 9968.
Motion carried.
