The minutes of the regular meeting of February 17, 1969 were approved as written. + + + 2. Mr. Darel Castle, State Health Department, and Mr. W. H. Larrimer, Harris County Health Department, showed slides of both good and bad conditions in La Forte and the surrounding area. They stated that La Porte has taken steps to improve some of the ccnditions and by working together, other irr%provements can be realised. Mr. Castle presented a letter from L. D. Farraguth, Director of the Harris Covnfy Health Unit, commending the City of La Porte in some areas. (See Exhibit No. 1). + + + 3. A group of North Side Citizens discussed with the Commission thetr concern for several problems that exist. The City Administrator assured the Citizens that the Commission is studying possible solutions to some of the problems. + + + 4. Commissioner Crofoot ,made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, and carried, th~~t Ordinance No. 816 be passed on first and final readtnq. CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE 1965 ABBREVIATED EDITION, FIRE PREVENTION CODE, RECOMaiENDED BY THE AMERICAN INSURANCE ASSOC/AT/ON; PRE"CRIBING REGULATIONS GOVERN/NG COND TIONS HAZARDOUS TO LIFE AND PROPERTY FROM FIRE OR EXPLOSION; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSONVIOLA TING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A ht'ISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION WHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR` (.200.00), AND EACH DAY OF VIOLATION WHALL BE DEEMED A SEPARATE OFFENSE; CONTAINING A REPEALING AND A SAVING CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. + + t 5. A motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, and carried, that the Mayor, City Commission, City Attorney, City Clerk and Tax Assessor-Collector be authorized to execute an Industrial contract with the Texas Alykla ir~c. Motion carried. + + + 6. Commissioner Crofoot made a motion, seconded by Commissioner ComF:ton, and carried, that Ordinance No. 817 be passed on first and final reading: CAP 3` / GN : AN ORDINANCE DJSANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY HERETOFORE ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF LA PORTS; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFEC TIVE DATE HEREOF. + + + 7. The City Admintstrator presented a tabulation of bids on the sale of surplus equipment and recommender) that the office equipment, and spray equipment be sold to Franks Addressing Company, and that the bids on the airport tower be rejected. (See Exhibit No. 2). Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Crofoot, that the office equipment and spray equipment be sold to the high bidder, Franks Addressing Company, and that the airport tower bids be rejected. Motion carried. + + + 8. A motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, seconded by Commissioner Boyle and carried, that W. C. DuBose final Estimate No, 10, ,1,158.83, be apf,roved for pgyment. Motion carried. + + + • • 9. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Crofoot, and carried, that the following purchases be approved; Utility Supply Company .245.40 Municipal Pipe Company 920.00 + t + THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS AT HAND, THE MEETING WAS ADJOURNED. ~/ H.
