MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE
LA FORTE CITY COMMISSION, La PORTS, TExaS
June 9, 9969
7:00 P.M.
MEMBERS OF THE COh'M/SS/ON PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners
Bobby J. Burgin, Charles D. Boyle, and E. A. Thomas.
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: Commissioner H. Gould Crofoot.
OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Clerk Marilyn Ketiey and City
Attorney Knox W. Asktns.
PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer.

9. A number of concerned Citizens appeared before the Commission
protesting the presence of a foreign gas in the air on the
night of June 5th. A numbcr of persons w^re affected, and
some required medical attention.
Among those represented were the following:
Mr. Bob Hinchey, 620 South Fourth - 3 affected.
Mr. Dennis Dunham, 896 South First - 8 affected.
Mr. Frank Gaughrity, 9005 South Third -
Mr. Bill t"lest, 807 Vlouth Third - 2 affected.
Mr. James Mochman, 803 South third - 5 affected.
Mrs. Royce '+vhtte, 498 South Fourth - 9 affected.
Mr. R. L. Howard, 9094 South Second.
Mrs. Sylvia Edwards, 498 South Fourth - Dog sick.
Mr. T. L. 4~/oolridge, 804 South Third, stated that
he could not get specific information as to
the type of gas, from tha Dispatcher.
Mr. Fred O'Kelly felt that a company should not
be allowed to make dangerous gases in the area.
Two representatives from Chemtron Company were present.
Commissioner Thomas made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Burgin, and carried, that a resolution be sent to the Texas
Air Control Board, requesting that an investigation be r^ade.

2. The La Porte Planning and Zoning Corrrnission recommended that
the City Commission hold a public hearing to consider
the re-zoning of Lots 99 thru 94, Block 278, Town of La Porte,
from R~ xesidentiaC to Commercial, restricted to Day Care and
Kindergarten use only.

Co-rmissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner
Burgin, that a public hearing be held on June 30, 9969, at
7:00 P.M., to consider the request. Mottos carried.

3. A motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, seconded by Commissioner
8oy1e, that a ,~y35.00 Bond, No. 93522, Lee U. Pate be refunded.
