Pfeiffer, Comrrrissioners Bobby J. Burgin, Charles D. Boyle, H. Gould Crofoot, and E. A. .Thomas. MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON ABSENT: None. OTHER C/TY OFFICIALS PRESENT; City Administrator P. V. Werner, City Clerk Marilyn Kelley, City Attorney Knox W. Askins, and the La Porte Planning and Zoning Commission. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 9. The City Commission and the rlanning and Zoning Commission met in joint session to hold a public hearing for the possible re-coning of Lots 9 thru 96, Block 934, Town of La Porte, from R9 Residential to allow for Townhouse construction. Mr. Ervin Asbeck, Jr. presented the request. The following persons spoke in opposition to the request: Mrs. Wayne D. Farson, 624 South Second. Mrs. Eugene Mabry, 632 South Second. Mrs. P. G. Kibodeaux, 629 South Second. Commissioner Thomas expressed op~.osition to the number of units in such a small area. Commissioner Boyle stated that FHA ~.t#~t Townhouses ~e constructed, facing residential property. Mayor Pfeiffer declared the hearing closed. The Planning and Zoning Commission retired for a special session, and returned to the meeting with the following recommendation: "The. Planning and Zoning Commission recommends that the request be approved, and That the property be zonea to allow for one story townhouses." A motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner Crofoot, that Lots 9 thru 96, Block 934, Town of La Porte be zoned to allow for one story townhouses, subject to receiving acceptable plans and specifications. Commissioners Thomas and Burgin voted "no". Commissioners Crofoot and Boyle voted "yes". The motion carried with Mayor Pfeiffer voting for the rezoning. + + t 2. The City Attorney introduced Mr. Bill Morris, /r. and recommended that the City hire him to obtain Air Easements at the Airport. Mr. Morris was requested to make a written proposal. + + + 3. The following bids were received for the operation of the land fill garbage dump. Sonny Applebe .2,550.00 Mc Key Construction 2,700.00 Commissioner Boyle recommended that the Commission used the Cow bidder. Commissioner Thomas expressed concern over the type of equipment the low bidder plans to use. The City Administrator was instructed to canvass the Commission after they have had an op,~,ortunity to examine the equipment. Commissioner Crofoot made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, that fhe City Attorney be authorized to prepare a contract. Motion carried. + + + 4. The City Clerk was instructed to write Mr. George Lunday concerning the removal of a portion of his fence. + + + 5. A motion was made by Commissioner Crofoot, seconded by Commissioner Burgin and carried, that the purchase of two Scott Air Paks be approved. + t + THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS AT HAND, THE MEETING WAS ADJOURNED. ~/ 1~ .
