HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-06-30 Special Meeting• SPECIAL MEETING - MINUTES OF THE LA PORTS CITY COMM/SS/ON, LA PORTS, TEXAS June 30, 9969 7:00 P.M. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners E. A. Thomas, Charles D. Boyle, Bobby J. Burgin and H. Gould Crofoot. MEMBERS OF THE COMhilSSlON ABSENT: None. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Catty Clerk Marilyn Kelley, and City Attorney Knox W. Askins. PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. + + + 1. The City Administrator stated that Mrs. Virginia Cline will begin working on July 9. The City Attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance naming Mrs. Cline as City Clerk, and P. V. Werner as Director of Finance. + + + 2. A motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, seconded by Commissioner Crofoot that the City Administrator secure field note descriptions for a possible Wafer District in the North portion of the Richard Pearsall Tract. Motion carried. + + t 3. Commissioner Crofoot made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Burgin, that the City Attorney be authorized to negoiate with the School District to settle tax problems and to secure a tax title to the remaining two lots at the new garbage dump site. Motion carried. + + + 4. Commissioner Thomas made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Boyle that the City proceed with the purchase of an air conditioning u»it for the North Side Recreation Center, from Kling Air Conditioning and further that installation of windows and insulation be approved. Motion carried. + + + C, • 5. A motion was made by Commissioner Thomas, seconded by Commissioner Boyle and carried, that fhe Mayor be authorized to sign a contract with Mc Key Construction for the o;-:eration of the land fill garbage dump.
